I saw some stuff about the story he was pushing and it sounds like he wanted a political/social justice slant and was trying to bring in certain creatives to further that agenda. I'm sure Disney would have pulled that off in spectacular fashion.

I'm surprised they didn't run full speed off that cliff.

Yeah, probably a difference in trying to do it with integrity or the Disney way. The guy Ali is carrying around with him doesn't have much experience to speak of. It sounds like they were trying to copy the Black Panther blueprint but maybe just without the story to back it up.

Anyone else sick of Jason Statham? For me just seeing his name attached to a movie takes it off my list of things I want to see. I think the last time I saw one of his movies was The Expendables …. He just irks me

He's settled into a Steven Seagal type career. I don't think I've seen anything of his since Expendables either. Crank will always be good, ridiculous fun, though. No one can take that away from him.

I know he was in those early Guy Ritchie movies but it's been years since. I can't really think of something I've seen of his that I liked.

I didn't really have any questions about it.

The timeline feels a little weird though considering her age in this movie vs. her contemporaries in the upcoming Doom movie.

Her character being one of "those" special people but no others are really there is an odd choice. Agreed on her age/character vs what is coming in December with Avengers.

I was just reading that if they follow the story of one of the comic series, Doom pulls all multiverses into a single universe, which then allows for all those characters that were lost in the 20th Century Fox Universe to come into this timeline. It would be something that would make sense, kill off the failed multiverse and potentially pass the baton of the older characters shown in the trailers to younger versions of themselves.

Watched the Odyssey last night. Obviously a solid movie, great action and set pieces. Actors are top notch (Leguizamo was a scene stealer like usual).

It made me realize the story of The Odyssey doesnt grab me in any way. I wont ever have to watch it again.

I'm still tickled by the way the movie got trashed by the woman whose "modern translation" of the Odyssey was adapted for the screenplay. I think I posted about it recently, but she was big mad; mad like it was an original piece by her that Nolan had fucked up. Odysseus specifically.

Seems like everyone who's seen it at least likes it, but it doesn't sound like you should judge the story based on this movie.

"O Brother, Where Art Thou?", on the other hand...
