Now that we've seen Tito retire Shamrock (finally) and Anderson Silva destroy Rich Franklin, anyone looking forward to this weekend's Pride card?...

Pride Fighting: The Real Deal -The Bout Fight Card

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Mark Coleman
Mauricio Rua vs. Kevin Randelman
Mark Hunt vs. Eric Esch
Josh Barnett vs. Pawel Nastula
Dan Henderson vs. Vitor Belfort

I need to start watching Pride. I have been a UFC fan for almost 10 years and never really watched Pride. Just easier to see UFC via TV and PPV's. I plan on starting to download some of the shows.

Who are your fav fighters?

Mine:

Tito (and all of Team Punisment)
BJ
GSP
Vera
Nick Diaz
Diego (I don't care, cause the kid is a beast)

I tend to prefer the good guys on the ground due to a wrestling background.

Any of you guys read Black Belt Magazine?

I'm not one of those Pride vs UFC guys.... I think the overall talent in Pride is superior to that of the UFC, but the UFC presentation is better... I like the cage, one of teh things that irks me about Pride is restarting the fighters when they get under the ring ropes...If you go to youtube the night of the fights, someone usually will post some of them there... I saw the Franklin-Silva fight that way...

If we're talking UFC, I like watching Diego Sanchez, GSP, and Franklin fight... I still consider Anderson Silva a Pride guy, but I guess he fits here... Of course Belfort whenever he fights there... Strangley, even though he's a Hawaii guy, I dislike BJ Penn...

I tend to like the strikers better, which is why I like watching Phil Baroni and alot of the heavies in Pride...

I gotta say though, my favorite time was K-1 in the mid 90's - early 2000's when guys like Andy Hug, Ernesto Hoost, Jerome LeBanner, etc were fighting regularly....Jerome Lebanner is probably my alltime favorite fighter, right up there with Bas Rutten in fact... I just wish LeBanner had ventured into MMA sooner than he did, I think he could have done very well...

Nay on Black Belt Mag for me...

Nay on BB mag here as well.

I dig strikers too HBoy, but I just love GnP guys for whatever reason. To me it is more dominating if you can just lay and bash on a dude. More humiliating a loss imo.

I started watching MMA through UFC back when Tito won the belt. I was hooked. It is why Tito is my fav. He got me into the whole sport.

Glad to see you like Diego. I was not sure if he was legit until that Karo fight. He has shown he is going to be around for awhile.

As for the whole debate between the two, I am with you.

I think the Pride HW and MW are way better than UFC. LHW is a push cause I think Tito and Chuck can hang with anyone from Pride. WW and LW are pretty solid in the UFC right about now.

I just never really watched Pride, but have been scoping it out via YouTube lately.

We'd always watch Muay thai and Toughman bootleg videos when we could get our hands on them at Asian video stores and some early Pancrease stuff as well, but the UFC with the no weight class or time limit was the hook... Personally, I think MMA totally blew up with the Kimo vs Royce Gracie fight...

Back then, some of my friends and I thought about trying to promote fights here because the Dennis Alexio kick boxing matches would sell out every single time no matter the opponent, but we never did... Too bad because the MMA events here sell like crazy...

GSP is my favorite.

Humble, explosive and all around talented.

I also like Fedor (Of course), Karo Parysan, Sean Sherk and The Nightmare.

I don't train or anything, but I am a fan of the PPV's and the Spike TV shows...

Match Winner Loser Method Round Time

1 Robbie Lawler > Joey Villasenor KO (Knee) 1 0:22
2 Kazuhiro Nakamura > Travis Galbraith TKO (Strikes) 2 1:16
3 Phil Baroni > Yosuke Nishijima Submission (Kimura) 1 3:20
4 Dan Henderson > Vitor Belfort Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
5 Eric Esch > Sean O'Haire TKO (Strikes) 1 0:29
6 Josh Barnett > Pawel Nastula Submission (Ankle Lock) 2 3:04
7 Mauricio Rua > Kevin Randleman Submission (Kneebar) 1 2:35
8 Fedor Emelianenko > Mark Coleman Submission (Armbar) 2 1:17

Well, unfortunately it's become evident that Belfort was a flash in the pan... I'm thinking he may be better off in K-1 where he can let his hands fly...

Fedor continues to look unbeatable... I'm hoping that they somehow feed that mutt Tim Sylvia to him...

Baroni actually submitted someone... I know alot of people don't like him, but if you go to Japan the guys everywhere... Dude's banking some serious advertisement moolah for sure...

The upcoming UFC 65 card looks pretty damn good:

-Matt Hughes vs. Georges St-Pierre (UFC World Welterweight Title)
-Tim Sylvia vs. Jeff Monson (UFC World Heavyweight Title)
-Brandon Vera vs. Frank Mir
-Joe Stevenson vs. Dokonjonosuke Mishima
-Nick Diaz vs. Graison Tibau
-James Irvin vs. Hector Ramirez
-Alessio Sakara vs. Wilson Gouveia
-Brad Imes vs. Antoni Hardonk
-Jake O'Brien vs. Josh Shockman

Couple of Pride guys in there as well... Dokonjonosuke Mishima is an entertaining guy to say the least... GSP against Hughes should be a real good one...

Pride in the US will be good for the UFc, IMO.

I think they call it 'improvement by fear'

UFC65 is gonna be great as well.

I think the UFC finally getting clear of their debt this year will also have a huge impact on their shows. They now have money to go and get guys like Silva, Lindland and others. If they get Lindland, all of a sudden they have a pretty competitive MW division (Silva, Lindland, The Crow x2 and Franklin) with a solid future (Leben, Swick and others). Their WW is solid from the top down. The LHW has two solid guys on top but needs some depth, though it has a lot of young guys who will be good in the future. The HW division to me really depends on Mir. If he gets in shape, then they have him, Vera and Tim.

All in all, the comp is getting better and should just continue to grow. If Chuck beats Tito, expect Rampage Jackson to be here to beat him down once again.

The UFC is actually thinking about expanding into Europe. So they might be piling the debt right back up.

I dunno, Rampage hasn't looked the same since he found Jesus... That may be why he wasn't reupped at Pride....

I think this fight could be the fire that gets him going.

Anyway, I still hate Chuck....the bastage.

P.S. Dana White might be a douche, but he is one hell of a biz man.
