Ok, not sure why we didn't have one already but here's one for movies, tv, music, etc.

Anyway...

Went to watch Suicide Squad yesterday and liked it quite a bit. It was more lighthearted than I expected even with the talk of it being reshot for exactly that purpose. It would be cool if they released the alternate version with the DVD. Leto's taken a lot of flack for his Joker rendition but he killed it IMO. It's become such an iconic role there's no way he could have gotten away with rehashing Jack or Ledger's versions. I'm looking forward to him having a more prominent role in the upcoming Batman flicks.

Saw the new Bourne last week and thought it was straight garbage. Pretty disappointing effort from an otherwise solid franchise.

I'd been really excited for Suicide Squad, but after seeing all the shit reviews, I'm debating if it's worth the $$ to see it in theaters.

I saw the new Star Trek: Beyond movie, and damn! It was really good! I liked Beyond a lot more than the last one (Into Darkness). This one definitely felt more Star Trek-y, and the characters were great. Simon Pegg co-wrote the script and did a solid job. If they continue making these movies, hopefully they'll keep the same feel and style from this new film.

They pay tribute to Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin. Nimoy died before the Beyond was filmed, so Spock's "death" was incorporated really well into the script. Yelchin, who plays Chekov, died about a month before the film was released. At the film's end, when Kirk gives a toast to "absent friends," the very next shot was edited so that Yelchin is standing center frame. It was a pretty moving moment.

Yeah, it was either Bourne or Star Trek for me and I chose wrong. The wife likes the Bourne films and even she thought it was bad. I'll be checking out Trek soon.

Suicide Squad does leave you with the feeling that it could have been more considering the reshoots in response to Batman vs Superman being criticized for being to dark... which is ironic considering there's a Harley Quinn line where she says "you gotta own that shit" in reference to El Diablo embracing his inner evil. All said though, I enjoyed it.

Anyone watching The Get Down on Netflix?

A must see for old school hip-hop heads...

I watched a bit of the 1st episode. Was just looking for something to bide my time. Had to turn it off. I knew this would be a show I would like and want to save it for a binge day when the wife takes the kids out.

Vikings kills any show out right now.

Also, any Dropkick Murphy's fans out there? New Album came out today...

Saw Logan last night.

Fucking awesome movie...
Saw him on with Colbert the other night.I know it's the movies but Damn. He's a little skinny guy from Australia. But I may go so the movie.

I highly recommend it if you're into the genre.

Only took 17 years, but they did him right for once. Unleashed the animal that the comics created.

6'2" is little? Matt McGloin says your words are hurtful.

Besides in the comics, he's just a little over 5'.

Well he looks "smaller".Obviously he bulks up for the movie but Damn.

He bulks up for the filming but once done he normalizes his weight.

I may need to go see that... I'm not really a big fan of comic to movie translations as it seems so overdone these days but I was a huge X-Men fan as a kid and Wolverine was my favorite. If they finally did it right I might just have to go...

It's definitely skewed more toward an adult audience... pretty minimal. Has sort of a Frank Miller meets Mad Max vibe.

Logan was really good. Now that Jackman is done with the character and they're going to have to start fresh, I hope the new guy they cast will resemble the comic/cartoon version.

It's always been weird to me seeing Wolverine as a tall dude that seems like a cool, calm, well adjusted guy.

I wanna see a short roided out guy with a short fuse and a bad temper that goes nuts when he kills people.

I hope they let the character be. There is so much other untapped material that they don't need to keep resetting the clock. Doesn't sound like that's going to happen though. I read somewhere that it's going to be a complete reboot rather than picking up where Logan left off. To bad, the girl was Lyanna Mormont level badass.

They'll definitely re-boot him. After Spider-Man, he's probably the most well known and popular guy Marvel has.

And with the way comic book movies are drawing at the box office, its probably easy money for them.

I just hope the movies lean more towards adult audiences, like Deadpool, Logan and the Christopher Nolan Batman films did.
