This wasn't suprising. Even if he survived this season, he would have been gone as soon as the season is over. I am shocked and dissapointed Steve Mariucci failed in Detroit. I thought he was the right guy for that team. I thought he was charismatic and intelligent in his time with the Niners. He did a great job rebuilding the Niners after taking salary cap hit. I am really suprised that he did not get the most out of the talent the Lions had especially offensively. I am sure he will get an opportunity to coach some team next year. Maybe the Raiders can hire him. He would be a great fit there.

I can understand the firing of Mariucci. He should have been fired because the team simply quit under him. My question is and I am sure everyone wants to know is how come Matt Millen is still going to be the GM. What the heck has he done to stay on? This franchise gotten worse under his stewardship. You realize the Lions miss a playoff spot thanks to Paul Edinger kicking the FG to give the Bears a win over the Lions and they haven't recovered since when Millen took over.

Lions fans deserve better than this. They are one of the most loyal fans in football and to see them suffer year in and year out is not fair. I don't know what to say. I wish I can say things will get better, but I can't. Being a Twins fan, I think I can relate.

I think he got screwed.

Listen to Bly...the players liked him and thought he was a good coach. Sticking with Harrington was the kiss of death.

And besides, Matt Millen IMO is completely misplaced as the GM of an NFL team. Just because he was a great player (and a Raider to boot) doesn't mean he can lead a franchise. Three 1st round WR's? D'oh.

Building your team around WR's is not a good thing. Ask Oakland. They thought brining in Randy Moss would be the thing. I still love the move but you need more than players who see the ball 6 times in a game.

Anyway, Mooch got screwed royally. I bet he gets another gig and not in the too far distant future. Remember, the experts are predicting from 10-13 NFL HC vacancies.

The problem with bringing in 3 WR's is they were all very similar, none of them was a crisp route runner, they are all pretty much striders. What QB is going to routinely hit a guy who is open sometime along the route? The QB expects a guy to be open at a specific time. When he isn't he looks elsewhere.

Hey! Those Twins won a couple didn't they? Sure it was a while ago, but you've got the rings.
