Let’s go Spytek

Wasn’t last years draft the most liked since 2014 too ?
Nope.

You might be confusing total perceived value added, which is based on picking high in the draft and having multiple picks (which we had last year), with return on draft capital (where Arif and others marked us down). SpyGuy’s draft last year had many reaches, like this year. Unlike this year, he did not have a McCoy or Washington in the 4th, and his reaches this year have received strong grades notwithstanding the deviation from concensus. Insiders like McShaw were in on SpyGuy’s picks.

Ya I don’t pay attention to TPVA or any of that shit.

Most people/analysts said it was the best draft in a decade for us last year. Fairly consistent A’s from everyone.

"I love what the Raiders did." - A pretty common refrain, as I recall.
I think pretty much everyone including us here liked last years draft aside from Jenny from a value standpoint. Nothing against the player. At least in the days after the draft.

Talk about loving what you do. Spyguy is absolutely glowing. :pound:

Behind the scenes of Raiders GM John Spytek accepting a trading with the Houston Texans:

“Think I want to do the Houston one. Y’all feel good about it? Worth the risk? Good deal. My heart gets going with these.”

After drafting Treydan Stukes at 38:
“I love trading. Especially when it works out.”

Best return in SpyGuy’s 2nd draft:

1.1 Mendoza

2.36 trade down netting Stukes & Zuhn

1.102 trade up for McCoy

Wilson trade clearing roster spot/cap and netting 5.150

Great draft for SpyGuy

So, the inference is that he loves it when it doesn't work out as well? That could be problematic.

He's addicted to that rush.

It is only a great draft if the players pan out.
I view it like poker. The better player, which you can judge in real time, will beat lesser players overtime, even if a lesser player gets lucky on a hand. Knowing how to play poker, bet and bluff wins overtime. Knowing how to set a board, find value and disguise your interest will payout overtime.

Thats why I think it's silly to grade drafts before the player even sets foot on the field. You can grade the draft based on perceived value and needs but it's strictly conjecture grading a guy before he has played one down in the NFL.
Except our A+ rated rookie QB that is carrying the weight of a franchise on his shoulders.

Guess that means we can't even give a grade to last year's picks.

The way Carroll messed up the roster, fucked up the D, made a mess of the O, he was worse that McShithead. Amazing he didn't lose the locker room.
