This guy was pioneer to be sure. Tough to lose a man like that.
I thinkn Lamar Hunt is responsible for this story...
In the early days of the AFL apparently somewhere along the line Hunt paid something like $1 million to get into the league and get a franchise.
The media was all over the story and was in a press conference with Lamar's father. One media geek asked the elder Hunt what was going to happen if the AFL went tits up...how could his son afford to lose $1 million?
The older Hunt looked at the reporter and said, "well, in that case he's gonna be broke in 300 years"....something like that. Thought it was damn funny at the time.
