Panthers | Hurney comments on K. Johnson release
Tue, 1 May 2007 15:14:55 -0700
Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney, during an interview on "The Afternoon Blitz" on SIRIUS NFL Radio, said the Panthers were fortunate enough to land WR Dwayne Jarrett and WR Ryne Robinson during the NFL Draft, which made it easier to part ways with WR Keyshawn Johnson. Hurney noted the team feels they have a group of young receivers who are able to develop through a lot of time and reps. While noting Johnson was everything they hoped he would be when they signed him, Hurney noted the team made a decision it was time to give their younger players time to develop. He added Johnson was a little surprised but understands the reasons behind his release. Hurney said financial considerations did not play a part in the release.
Do the Raiders make room for this guy....he and Mike Williams are close? He's wanted to play for the Raiders, yet he's a guy who wants his money too. I can see all the AFC W teams looking at him...Rat Face, Herm and Craters.
