So I took a couple weeks off for the holiday and had a whole day to myself and decided to go through all my recorded Tivo Raider games this year

And I gotta tell ya

Our DL is just awful

I had high hopes for Sands and Kelly but they are backups at best. Gerrad Warren looked okay at times and Sapp has lost a couple steps

Anybody remember how this turnedout?

When the Bears drafted Tommy Harris and Tank Johnson in the same draft they went from a below average defense to downright dominating?

Just drafting two DL

So after further review

Sedrick Ellis in rd 1
Red Bryant in rd 2

Ellis is so quick off the snap and just explodes with "move bitch, get out da way..."

Red Bryant is a big run stuffing typ DT

Dre' Moore would be another one

By the way, in the limited action I saw of Chris Clemons when they rush him from the end.. he looked pretty fucking good

Release Sapp, trade Jordan for a 5th

That'll free up a lot of coin..

Resign Aso

With where we are cap wise now and the coin savings from Sapp and Jordan

Go drop the bank on LT- Flozell Adams
 
I think our DL really went to crap when Kelly was injured. I like him at the UT spot to replace Sapp. We can also move him to end as the need dictates. I'd also like to see us re-sign Warren for the right price.

I'd consider Sed Ellis in a trade down scenario but not if we're going to be picking 5 or 6. I'm pretty sure it's going to be either Dorsey/Long/Gholston. I think Gholston will put up some sick combine numbers. I'd be all over Red Bryant/Okam in the 2nd.

Kris Jenkins looks like he may shake free... He had a pretty good season...


We definitely need to scratch that DT itch, but I'm not convinced we need to do it in RD1 unless Dorsey drops or we're able to trade back some.... Personally I'd be happy with signing a strong, blue collar guy like Randy Starks and drafting a guy in RD2 or RD4... I like what I saw of Dre Moore, and I really like what I saw of Ahtyba Rubin who I personally think is right up there with Red Bryant and someone that should be getting a lot more attention than he has been getting IMO...

I missed the Jags game, but they have the blueprint I'd like to follow... A wave of big DT's that eat up blockers, speed at LB, corners that can play man... I'd even like to use Huff the way they are using Reggie Nelson... and as funny as it seems, they are a top defense without real studs at DE, while we have the pass rush ability of Burgess to add to the equation...
 
Kris Jenkins has the potential to go looney on us. not really worth the money he'll command for having to play on the same team that Sapp played on. That could very well drive him back to alcoholism and crying.

All kidding aside i'd rather get Tank Johnson to replace sapp, and role with him and warren.

Being big, tall and imposing still has the chance of being stupid

Sands is a rotational guy at best.. I still keep.. He's perfect to bring in when your team is up by 14 with 2 minutes to go :pound:

Heres the deal

Scheduled 2008 salaries

Sapp = 6.3 million
Gallery = 5.4 million
Jordan = 5.4 million
Brayton = 1.4 million

Sapp

Means well, and without a doubt, he has given this team 110% and for that I'm grateful. I love the guy, always have and he's one of the best DT to play the last 20 years. He's just lost a step and its time to say thanks Warren for all your effort, good luck and we'll see you soon wearing the yellow jacket.

You are by far the biggest pussy DE in the NFL. You tackle like a sissy and quite frankly you should go back to Colorado or wherever the fuck it is you are from because you give about 40% on the field

There is little over 18 million in free cash, couple that with our current cap and we should be around 30 million under heading into the off season

Trade Gallery for a 4th and Jordan for a 5th or 6th.. and Brayton for a stick of smoked cheddar and a box of crackers

Good solid vetern leadership we need on the OL. He's 32 but he's good for another 3-5 years... enough years for us to develop his replacement

He got a 5 year 23 million contract 5 years ago with a 10 million SB

Considering his age... We should have no problem signing him.. even a little over market value to secure his services

My take:

5 year 30 million contract with a 15 million SB

Backloaded of course

Will = 6 million a year.. Sapps current contract.. of course the 1st 3 years are more likey in the range of 3-4 million... Adams is a good solid vetern LT we so desperatly need on this team.. We cannot afford to have Russell get fucked up ala Ryan from the Chargers

Gibril Wilson-Giants - Safety

I loved this guy outta Tennessee.. tenacious speed and hitting ability.. Signed a 1 year deal for 1.3 with the Giants last year

Guy can ball and is young.. 26 years old and would be a big upgrade to our Defense

The Bears instantly improved that defense to become a terror in 2006 by drafting Tank Johnson and Tommy Harris

Ellis just explodes off the ball.. commands double team... Bryant is a strong run stuffing DT...

I think Gallery gets another get out of jail card but would be nice to see him give back some of the money he stole from the Raiders the past few years. Honestly don't see much trade value with him at this point. Man we have bit the big kielbasa with some of these #1's the past few years.

He's always holding.. false starts... Oh, he'll get away that shit with the Patriots or Colts.. not on this team...

Gallery is a liability

Cut the loss and move on... I'd see some team like the Bills that could use a guard

I see several teams that will give us a 3rd for the guy
 
As much as I have called Gallery a bust I think he gets one more year at guard. He's progressed some but he's still a frustraing mofo. Just when you think he might be getting it he has a stinker of a gme with false starts, holding penalites and other dumb shit...

He hasn't got much trade value IMO. If he can't get it right next season I'm done with him completely. And get a hair cut you fucker. That's part of the problem. He's trying to look the part but he's being schooled and just being laughed at looking like some sort of '60's hippie lost in Golden Gate Park.

I was looking at at Carolina board trying to get a pulse on Kris Jenkins.... Seems they are really up against the cap and almost certain to release Maake Kemoeatu to free up room... He won't give us much as a pass rusher, but he's a 28 year old 350 lb guy that can hold his gaps... I would imagine he'd welcome the chance to play on the West Coast...


I say we sign Randy Starks as a FA, put Terdell Sands on one end of the seesaw and then add a couple of DT's that could sit on the other end and lift him off the ground... I want to see some toilet cloggers up in here...

Give me Starks and Komoeatu as starters with Sands and Ahtyba Rubin rotating in and I'd be content...
 
Also, I know it doesn't always translate to football strength, but I'm pretty sure Sed has gone down as the strongest guy in USC football history, benching 500-600 pounds at will.
 
And being a little short means that he's usually going to be getting that power underneath the blocker. Power, leverage...pretty nice combo.
