Jeremy Newberry?

If he is healthy this guy is a beast. But two knee surgery's doesnt warrant much of a payday.
 
i think it has more to do with Cable. he really wants to play for him and knapp it seems.

I know Al would like to sign some disgruntled former stars who wanna be in Oak town. This might be a blessing in disguise b/c im not sold on Kalil. He reminds me too much of Grove an undersized C who is supposed to go round 1, but might slip to us in round two. Id rather have Kyle Young. 6'5 300 Fresno State, Kiff's old squad. Him and the RB from Fresno would be good day two picks.
 
Both SB teams have centers the size of Kalil. As far as Newberry the guy hasn't played a game yet on either of his microfractured cartilage inducing surgeries so of course he feels great now but I have serious doubts this guy at age 31 will ever be a force in the pivot again.
 
Kalil looked pretty impressive during the senior bowl workouts. I like the fact that he's intimately familiar with Kiffen's offense and perfectly suited for the zone blocking that we're going to implement.

As far as Newberry, I don't think we really have anything to lose by bringing him in. At worse we have a possible back up.

I just wonder if Jake Grove has any trade value at this point?
 
I think Kyle Young not getting a combine invite is a fuckin travesty.

He's a second round talent who will likely fall into day two now.

Hopefully we pull a sweet steal and snag him up in round 4...

He may be raw but his potential seems awesome. You know Kiffin knows all about him if he is the man at Fresno. I could see us taking him and letting him learn a few different positions as a back-up until he is ready to start soemwhere. He is a huge sleeper in this draft. I also really think S.Smith will be a really good NFL player. I just watched the Bowe, Davis , JR highlight reel again and i must say if we went JR and Bowe in rounds 1 and 2. I wouldnt complain. If you havent seen this particular one it really shows off Bowe's abilities and JR's quick. Sorry to switch up topics ive got #1 pick'itis today.

While I feel that Young rested on his pre SR year rankings and mailed it in effort wise both on and off the field this year, I agree that he should have gotten a combine invite... especially when considering that a similar type player in Richie Incognito still got invited to the combine after being dismissed from two schools for worse transgressions than flunking out of school...

That said, I thought Young played like a 5th round pick in the 2 or 3 games I saw him play in this year... Hopefully the experiences of this past season has helped him mature... I'd take a crack at him in RD4, though I may be more inclined to play him at guard....
 
Absolutely would a good second day pick if he is there. Plays with a bullying mean streak.

Gogan, Wisniewski, ??Kyle Young. We could only be so lucky. This line needs at least one prick every team hates to play. I was hoping it was going to be Grove but he seems so physically overmatched.
