Jermy "The Judge" Ito

And he was doing so well this year when it meant nothing. Heh.

If he's hurt than it's on Shell. If he's not hurt then I guess he just sucks under pressure. Hopefully we can find a FA kicker who can make a 40 yarder when it counts.

You know that's been his modus his entire career. I don't recall the last meaningful kick he's made. In his defense though, I don't think he was at 100%. Those were XP's for him with the exception of the 50 plus yarder.

They knew he was hurting otherwise they wouldn't have had TWO kickers on standby going into Friday's practice. Hopefully, they'll shut him down until he makes like 9 out of 10 kicks in practice.

Ito missed a key one yesterday....

Jano is 0-4 since he tweaked the back after missing just one all year (from past 50 at that)...

I put this squarley on the coaches shoulders... There's no way you take a chance with the guy with a back that is locking up... A drop in tempature or having to make a tackle with the way our coverage has been is all it takes to screw him up long term...

I'm with HB. I place that one on the coaching staff. It is no secret that the dude's back has been locked and they brought in a couple of other kickers, even contacting Vanderjerk. Though is sucks that Janikowski missed them, he shouldn't have been out there in the first place.

he's made some big ones, unfortunately its a what have you done for me lately thing with kickers and the fans who hate/love them.

Apparenly, Shell in his press conference deferred the blame onto Seabass saying that he didn't bring in any kickers this week because he said he was ok to kick.

shell defers it to everyone else. except his staff. Walter is an idiot who doesnt know what he's talking about in his complaints and Walsh is very smart.

I don't know if I can take another year of looking at Shell with that glazed look in his eye on the sidelines.

Well, it sure doesn't look too good as far as Shell and Lombardi working together next year if the scuttlebutt is to be believed.... There is NO WAY Al fires Art after the proclamations of 'Shell has a lifetime contract' were made... Could be that Art's intention is to move into Lombardi's gig and leave the stress of coaching to someone else...

If that's the case, I for one would love to see us make a play at Dick Vermeil... After all the nonsense of this year, this organization could really use the shot of immediate legitimacy that Vermeil brings to the table, not to mention the atmosphere amonsgt the team he creates... Bring in James Lofton as his OC with the intention of prepping him for a head coaching job in 2-3 years...

Oh yeah, have Vermeil bring in Gonzo while he's at it :D

Vermiel huh?

That came outta the blue...

Anyone know if Al has any kinda relationship with Vermiel, or heard any scuttle about what they think of eachother?

Who spiked the pineapple juice. Vermeil? LOL.

I'd be more than OK with a Dick Vermiel on our sidelines. Great experience, instant credibility and players seem to love this dude.

Hey now....

Laugh if you will, but:

1) We would look a lot less inept as an organization if we proclaim the plan all along was to have Art get a one year first hand coaching look at the roster in preperation to move up to the GM job, then to bring in a top tier head coach...

2) We're going to seriously need someone capable of selling potential free agents to sign here... Vermeil is nothing if not charismatic and trustworthy....

3) Vermeil has a resume that includes two of the best offenses to come around in a long time...

4) I think Vermeil has a bad taste in his mouth about being forced into retirement so that Peterson could get his friend Herm in... This gives him a couple of shots a year at KC...

5) The man knows his football...

6) It gives you someone in your own age group to relate to...

I don't know if Al has a relationship with Dicky, but I guarantee you hiring him would stop the media from portraying us as totally dysfunctional... IMO, the worst thing we could do now is fire Art without some kind of plan in place....

You'd think our young defense would be an attractive selling point to any offensive minded head coaching candidate. Its like they only have to climb half-way up Mt. Everest with this team. I hope Al makes another run at Petrino. Although I'm now thinking Shell lashed out at Lombardi to help ensure that he leaves after the season and when he does that will end any push for Petrino within the organization.

Am I the only one that's frightend at the prospect of Art Shell becoming the general manager of the Raiders?

I dunno, what harm could he do?...

Obviously, a cap/contracts guy would have to be hired... I don't know if he had any input but we had a pretty strong draft this year.... He would give Al the Raider figure head he wants... On the plus side he has an established working relationship with the league...
