A little too little too late, but maybe Derek Miller would be an upgrade?!? He's an undrafted rookie who's already worked his way to the roster from the practice squad. He's 6'7" and 254lbs from Maryland- so he's got CA's size and maybe better hands, IQ, and blocking skills.

(12-29) 13:59 PST Alameda, Calif. (AP) --

The Oakland Raiders placed running back LaMont Jordan and wide receiver Jerry Porter on injured reserve Friday.

Jordan has been sidelined since tearing the medial collateral ligament in his left knee on Nov. 19 against Kansas City. Porter injured his hip in that game against the Chiefs and hasn't played since.

Oakland activated safety Hiram Eugene and tight end Derek Miller from the practice squad, making them eligible for Sunday's season finale against the New York Jets.

Please fire Art Shell for his timing on these moves. Last straw of straws right there.

Is this what we call an audition or is it just change for no fucking reason at all?

Its like an 8 or 9 thousand buck x-mas bonus to Hiram and Miller.

Hiram Eugene kicks ass!

What's the book on this cat? Any chance he could assume the SS job in 2007, thus allowing Michael Huff to play FS (sending Stu to the bench) ???

Well maybe he can take over for Huff because if you haven't noticed Huff doens't look as good as Stu did this year. You all keep bitchin about Stu but the dude played great this year, he is no Ronnie Lott, but he has played as good as anyone this year.

Leave Stu alone jjhiad begins now..............pick on somone that has blown goat like Brayton or someone on the line.....

Take it from me. They never leave Stu alone. Just like nothing Huff does is worth a damn unless he looks like ed reed right now. People are hard and mostly complicated to please. If they were not, then nobody would get plastic surgery.

Stu and huff are like two girls in high school you wanted to date but the other elite chicks have bigger boobs and well, your a boobs guy. Not realizing that theirs will grow to a usable size and that you're making too big a deal out of it in the long run, you find all types of ways to tell yourself that the smaller boobs girls are ugly. And no one can tell you otherwise.

Hopefully you are confused and we start dissing someone more deserving(like Art):p

I'm not a huge Stu detractor, but I do think Huff would have more long term upside as a FS. I do agree that it's not our biggest issue on D. Getting a NT that can absord double teams is much higher on my list.

Back to Safety, I just prefer to have a bigger hitter at SS than what Huff can offer.

Still, Huff has played decent football IMO. Not spectacular, but mostly solid. He's had a lot to absorb and BTW, TE's haven't killed us this year as in year's past.

His future is bright. Ditto for Stanford Routt. This secondary is loaded with Huff, Nmandi, Washington and Routt and yes, despite the fact that I will probably always be scared about Stu's tackling, he has had a decent season.

At least we can resonable scratch of DB & LB as being "need" areas on this team.
