If Al Davis picked Russell and not Kiffin, the Raiders are heading for more years close to the bottom. Kiffin is not going to run Al's offense, this has to be Kiffin's style of offense, or it won't work. And I don't believe Russell fits into Kiffin's offense USC style. Quinn was his style player, Russell is a good player but needs a coach who runs his style of play. Here we go again Al interfering, internal conflict between coach and owner.

Well seeing as we don't know what Kiffin is really going to do, how the discussions went about the draft etc., it's really way too early to be worrying about it. I for one will give everything the benefit of the doubt. Personally I don't see why Ja can't run an adjusted version of the WCO and still scare the shit out of every DB in the league. :D

And, BTW, welcome to the site!

Isn't it becoming clear that Quinn may not have been as highly ranked as the general public thought?

I think Kiffin is in love with JR. The Quinn thing may have been a smokescreen. Obviously teams arent very high on Quinn. Pete Carroll said long ago that it was obvious JR would be the choice. He knows his shit.

Welcome to the board bro... I'm pretty much on board with what you've said. To put this kind of money into a player, everybody has to be on board, especially the HC. High risk pick that we're now married to cap wise for the next 5 years.

In retrospect, how interesting would it have been if the Raiders had picked CJ (or AP for us Peterson jihadists) at the top of the draft and then packaged our second rounder and Moss to move back into the later part of the 1st round and take Quinn. That would have been a coup.

I think it says a LOT about Quinn that so many teams in need of a QB passed on him. Miami and Clev.

Mia-Cle-Jax-Min- they all passed on Quinn...I tend to lean with Mass that maybe the public had him a tad overrated?

Several people on this board had him overrated as well. All it takes is 1 team. No telling that if we pass on Russell, he doesn't make the same free fall. Personally I think both Russell and Quinn were very overrated by the media.

Sure, including me. I didn't think he was a late 1st rounder. But he was.

And would I like CJ and Quinn? Probably.

But that package of Moss and #33 is a dream. It was gonna take #1 next year.

I'll take Russell, my #33, my #1 next year, and worry about WR later.

I believe #33 this year is worth more than a 1st rounder next year on the value chart, no?
