Art Shell is not expected to rejoin the Raiders' organization.

Al Davis promised him a job within two weeks of his firing, but Shell remains unemployed. Davis also blamed Shell for drafting Michael Huff over Matt Leinart, and the handling of Jerry Porter and Robert Gallery.

He said he said. Whatever. I'm just glad Art is not coming back in any capacity. Loved him as a player. Really disliked him as a coach.

Gotta do wonders for Huff's ego and standing on the team i would think..

This sounds like a lot of propaganda from Shell's agent.

Davis never promised Shell any future position in the front office. Davis didn't even agree to honor the remaining 2 million he owes Shell. The only thing Davis told Shell was to make sure the door didn't hit him on the way out.

... but speaking of former coaches... looks like Gruden is a Raider fan again (sorry if the original article was posted somewhere else... this is the first time I've read this).

-In case you missed it, Jon Gruden gave a strong endorsement of Lane Kiffin

in the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat this week. "Now, believe it or not, I'm a Raider fan again," Gruden said. "I hope he does a good job. He's a good friend, and I'm excited for him."

-You can bet Kiffin's getting a few good pointers from Gruden on how to work with Al Davis at the Senior Bowl this week. Kiffin should consider it the most valuable advice he may get this offseason.

Shell sure has one annoying little agent. I'm sure Al had other things on his mind after the firing then to figure out what role Shell would have with the team. I'm guessing Al will eventually get to it and the job will be something on the administrative side and not the football side.

if he doesn't, how does it look as far as him axing him even harder this time?
