Jerry Porter + Warren Sapp + Lamont Jordan for Shaun Rogers.

I keep reading stories about how Marinelli and Rogers aren't getting along. Marinelli prefers smaller, quicker tackles. In this trade we get one of the best 2-gap run stuffers. His baggage is a big contract. 2 strikes in the drug violation program. A recent injury that put him on IR this year. And supposedly he's not much of a leader in the locker room (he's a show up, do your job, go home kind of guy).

For the Lions they get Jerry Porter to pair up with Roy Williams. An aging DT in Sapp coming off a great season who has played for Marinelly and is his type of tackle. And Lamont Jordan as insurance in case Kevin Jones misses next season with a foot injury. Jordan should be healthy by the 1st mini-camp. We lose a lot of leadership with Sapp but he's probably hanging things up in 1 or 2 years anyway. Kelly would play UT and Rogers NT.

For the draft this would allow them to go ahead and draft Quinn while we take Peterson.

it wouldnt take 1/4 of that. Porter might go for rogers straight up.

dont be so ready to get rid of good players

You might feel otherwise when Terdell Sands signs elsewhere in 2 months. Jordan will be a cap casualty after the 2007 season. His deal has basically turned into a 3-year $15 million dollar contract. And Porter's deal also voids after the 2007 season. So from where I'm sitting its highly likely that none of these guys will be here after 2007.

you want to give up a guy playing his best ball in years (sapp) for a guy that cant play as well as sapp did in the same scheme (rogers) who has morale issues and who is probably past his prime. in addition to that you want to give up our #1 RB and our previous #1/#2 WR... and get nothing other then rogers back. I like Rogers but thats just stupid dude.

Yep. See we'd have Peterson as the "true" #1 back. His $11.5 million a year salary means we got no room to be paying Lamont a backup runner $5 million a year. I also think some of you guys are seriously overestimating the trade value that Porter and Moss have. Teams flat out know we have to trade Porter unless of course Art Shell gets canned. But as long as Art Shell is around Jerry Porter will not play for the Raiders and his trade value is limited. And how is Shaun Rogers past his prime?

well hes not the same player he was 2 years ago. injuries have always been a concern. And while hes good I guarantee he could be had for a lot less.

On a diff board i recommened a swap for rogers so I do think its a good idea... but youve gotta be reasonable about what you give up.

Well, what kind of value are you putting on Porter? Me I'm thinking 4th. But I now some people think Moss has mid-to-late 1st round value and Porter 2nd round value. I don't see it.

What is it with Rogers? There was talk that the Lions were trying to trade him before the last draft and that's after he was a Pro Bowl starter... Maybe he's just not a good fit in that Tampa scheme?... I'd certainly take him in a heart beat... After the problems he's had this year, I wonder if our high 3rd round pick would get it done?....

Swapping pain in the ass WR's makes sense to me... Porter for BMW...

I would like to see Rogers in Oakland, with Sands. That would certainly play to the strength of our linebacking corp, speed.

I agree with Banter in regards to Porters limited value. I don't know if trading Sapp would be the best message to send to FA's that do want to play for the Raiders.

Expanding on HB's thought of malcontent WR for malcontent WR.

I would certainly like to get something for the players Banter mentioned because after next year there will be no value to any of the three.

Rogers and BMW for Porter, Jordan and Sapp might be a good deal for both sides.

Sapp can stay forget trading him, Rogers for Porter and Williams for a 5th Rounder would work for me....but then again Why we need Williams isn't he another lazy complaining WR like the two we need to dump?

The main reason why I wouldn't trade Sapp at this juncture is the fact that he's playing great and he's one of the few guys that has come out and said that he loves playing for Oakland. Why get rid of a guy that is great for the locker room, helping to keep morale up and riots down and can still ball?

I was under the impression J.Porter was going to Opt. out of his contract this offseason. I think we will keep Moss unless he demands to be traded, which might happen. He might see our cap room, our young D, Adrian Peterson, C.J, Joe Thomas and Quinn and rethink leaving. I am not as negative as alot of people. I think our defense has been amazing and will only get better. We still need a few pieces but we basicaqlly can work on fixing one side of the ball. Thats not the worst position to be in. More than half way done rebuilding.

I don't think Porter can opt out, since he hasn't met the qualifiers. He played in what, 3 games this season? Probably less than 10 receptions in all. He's stuck with us until the end of his contract or we trade him if we keep this up.

I think he's in his 2nd year of a 5 year contract and with most of those, he wouldn't be able to opt out until after next year anyways. If he would have given back that $4M bonus, then he could have been traded away this year to teams that would have used him. I'm not sure of his bonuses at the moment, but his salary is only $1M/yr for the remainder. I think he had close to $4M in LTBE incentives which would come back to us in this offseason. Moss may or may not have had that in there, which most likely would refund some money there as well. If anyone still has a copy of that sheet from earlier this year, we could probably figure out some of the savings to be had from refunded LTBE's.

I'd do it in a heartbeat myself. Shaun Rogers is an absolute beast who causes disruptive havoc against the pass and run. I love Sapp but based on long term mileage I'd do the deal. On 3rd and short we could brin out the super beefy lineup of sands and rogers. Damn that would be nice.

Haynesworth, Tank Johnson, Big Baby rodgers. what fuck up DT Darryl Russel a-hole is going to be next. I wont be mad if we enter next year with Sands kelly and Sapp. I just want another D.end. And Lots of O-Lineman!

I don't know about this. I think his deal was a 3-year deal that we tacked another 2 years onto so we could spread that 1st year signing bonus over. I think Porter is "timing" his next stop in free agency. When free agency starts in 2008 he'll be 29 years old (30 when the season starts) thats a good age to be signing your last "big" contract. This is the main reason why I think he re-signed with us because he could essentially get a 3-year deal.

If MuffinMan/Sandman was still posting, we could ask him, since he was a fountain of knowledge and had 1000 internet monkeys at the ready to find anything we needed. If anyone knows the specifics of Porter's deal, it would help.

Based on the 2006 cap number for Porter Jerry McDonald gave in his blog it appears that Porter got a $7 million SB last year pro-rated 5 years and then a $3 million roster bonus this year pro-rated 4-years. So we've got $2.15 million applied against 2007, $2.15 against 2008 and $2.15 against 2009.
