Chiefs | Starting quarterback job Croyle's to lose?
Wed, 28 Mar 2007 08:04:42 -0700

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herman Edwards suggested Tuesday, March 27, that a quarterback may have to beat out QB Brodie Croyle by a wide margin during offseason practices and training camp in order to win the team's starting job. "You have to make certain judgments with your football team," Edwards said. "If I go with a veteran guy, how much better would we be than if I play the young guy? Is that going to allow me to win one or two more games? Or, do I look at it like I'm trying to build a championship team?"

What the fuck happened to "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME" !! haha Herm doesnt liek passing anyway so who cares. He will just run LJ into the dirt so in two years he will be spent. Jets fans were happy to see Herm go. From what ive heard he is a motivator but not a good coach.

Brodie friggin Croyle supposed to be some sorta franchise QB or something? :p

The chefs are so screwed. Herm does sound like an inspiring guy, but the chef cupboard is bare. No offensive weapons, decrepid line... and just how many 400+ carry seasons do they believe Larry has in him?

I for one, am very happy the Chiefs nudged Vermeil's high flying offense out the door in favor of Herm's version of Martyball...

Looks like future Raider Jared Allen is also a little unhappy:

ALLEN WON’T BE AT OFFSEASON WORKOUTS:

Ken Harris, the agent for defensive end Jared Allen, said his client won’t participate when the Chiefs begin their offseason program Monday.

“To my knowledge, I don’t think he plans to be back in Kansas City until training camp,” Harris said.

That means Allen also wouldn’t participate in the only offseason event that’s mandatory for most players, the three-day minicamp in early June. It wouldn’t be mandatory for Allen, who doesn’t have a contract.

Harris indicated that Allen probably wouldn’t sign the one-year, $2.35 million contract offer he has from the Chiefs until shortly before the start of camp. Allen is unhappy with contract negotiations with the Chiefs and has said he wants a trade.

The Chiefs are going to be fun to watch for the forseeable future.

Ill be honest if you forget the last few years and focus on the next few. We are in pretty good shape. We are better off than KC IMO. We dont have alot of old bums on the roster and alot of postions are young and talented. Our salary cap situation should be clearing up while the Broncos HAVE to be going into salary cap hell. Shanny has won ZERO playoff games since Elway left, amd WE are about to draft a guy compared to Elway. Say what you want about T.Bell he averaged like 6 yards a carry and if their line is so great why spend back on Travis Henry? The Chargers have some really nice talent but Norv is a joke and will drive that team into the dirt. Maybe not this coming year but the one after that we are taking the AFC west back. I think Kiffin was a great hire, hopefully he can get adjusted to the game fast and start getting us some AFC west wins next year!

IMO DEN has put itself in the SB hunt for the next 2 years. After that... who cares?

JMHO.

They still have some holes(D-LIne, SS/FS, MLB). They have a shot but right now my AFC powerhouses are the Colts, Ravens and Patriots. I dont think Cutler is as good as everybody thinks, at least not yet. But Denver and SD are stacked enough to be dangerous. They both have young QB's who i think would hurt them against guys like Manning, Brady, McNair if they faced off on the playoffs.

Den has put everything on rushing and defense. But I see plenty of int's in their young qb's future. Either way one good thing about lining up against Bly is that he gets manhandled by big WR's like Owens, Moss, Boldin, etc.

They are going to have alot of money invested in their CB's. You KNow Champ is gonna want a pay raise. He seems like the type of guy who would want to be paid like the best CB in the NFL(b/c he is). I bet he makes a stink...

KC's definitely a team on the decline and on the verge of losing their best defensive player. Their QB situation is very unsettled although I thought Huard played extremely well for them when Green went down.
I think with some luck, we can hopefully stay out of the AFC West cellar for a change. That would be a nice start.

I'll take a win within the division first...

;)

Herm Edwards slaps Damon Huard in the face

Slap him again Herm, and this time put some stank on it!

The once proud OL of the Chiefs are no more. With Roaf gone, and Weigman being like 35 and the possibility that Will Shields wll retire

They in a heap of shit, if'n ya ask me... FF players, beware of LJ

Them and the Chargers WR's are pathetic too.

AFC West QB's in 2007

Walter / 1st round pick
Rivers
Cutler
Croyle

Now is the time to have young QB - just when everyone else does too. Rivers is the veteran QB of the group for the most crucial six games of the season.
