Hey guys...long-time lurker here since just after the Old Merc site was shut down (used to lurk there too). I've been on this site so often for the last several years that I figured I'd finally get my $hit together and start posting from time to time. IDK if you regulars ever look at the Welcome Thread, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks Bones for sponsoring the forum.

Just a quick few "about me" points...I grew up in Southern CA and would go to the LA Coliseum from time to time with my dad to see games (he eventually stopped taking me because his car stereo got stolen twice...). I'm 41 years old now. I've moved around quite abit, from South Orange County to Santa Barbara to Charleston, South Carolina. I now live in Donkey Land on the west side of Denver. Love living in CO, but wading through all of the Donk crap is tough (that orange is hideous...way more obnoxious than it looks on TV). I try to make it out to Oaktown for at least one game a year, although this year might be at Mile High. Obviously I feel the same as the rest of you, with the last decade plus having been really tough to endure. Hoping this year is the start of something different (it kinda feels like it is...IDK, at least we have a few legitimate building blocks).

I sure as hell hope so... If we miss on another QB I'm not sure I can stomach the "Raiders would be a good landing spot for RG3". I liked some of what I saw last year, but share many of the same concerns as folks here. Too many dump offs, too much shotgun, and too little mustard on most of his balls (someone will be all over that one...). I think I can live with the kid for now, but shit like that pick six can't happen. Honestly I'm afraid he thinks TOO much. Just play the fuckin' game!!

It is funny to me too Crow! After two stereos and one hood ornament my pops was done with Raider/USC games. As shitty of a place as the Oakland Co. is, I think the LA Co. is worse. Only the Raiders end up in those two dumps. About 15 years ago I was at a Raider/Chief game in Oakland, and after many beers, it was time for a piss. The facilities blow, and there was a long line for the pisser. I'm dressed in my Raider gear , and right behind me in line is a REAL HARD LOOKING Raider fan. He says, "Yo holmes, nice jersey". I tell him thanks and "fuck the chefs!", and then go back to minding my own business. Next thing I know dude is pissing all over the wall and its running past my shoes. "Fuck waiting in line!".
 
Sounds like Mardi Gras. One person in every portapotty, two dudes pissing on the sides.

Can't expect people to hold it forever.
 
True... you know, I lived in the South for about twelve years. I never made it to NOLA for Mardi Gras. Went to Jazz Fest a few times, and never could get used to the smell of fresh urine and vomit... love that city though... so much great culture. Not enough places in the world where you can buy 1 drink and get 3 more free.

And stagger past the cops, drink in hand, without getting any static. I like it.
 
And I had heard Jazz Fest was a little more "low key" than Mardi Gras.
