General UFC

My boxing coach who has a couple of up and coming young professionals in his stable has been approached by Dana White's people who want to start promoting some boxing events. He's got this young Cuban kid name Reyes who trained as a kid in Cuba and hits like a fucking Mack truck. Most of his fights haven't even lasted a full round. Big lanky kid built like Tommy Hearns.

Said Dana's people are really cool and professional unlike most of the sleazy promoters. He doesn't take a dime from these kids right now. I respect him for that.

Ankalaev didn’t win that fight. I had it 3-2 the other way.
I thought Ankalaev won it 3-2, could have seen it going the other way though. Thought it was a pretty boring fight, especially after watching the previous fight. Gaethje looked great.

There are a lot of people saying that Topuria should be Islam’s next fight but I’m just not feeling it. Dude defended his 145 belt one time and then vacated. I think he needs to fight *at least* a top ten 155er before gets a crack at gold.

What a finish for Vera vs Musasa! Not only was Vera already the biggest betting underdog on the card but Musasa didn’t even make weight! Well done, Vera!

I’m reading a lot of articles that suggest that ESPN and the UFC are unhappy with each other. As they near the end of the deal, all I can say is ”THANK FUCKING GOD.”

ESPN is reportedly pissed that PPV numbers are way down and blame it on the UFC putting together lackluster cards. Really, though… they required a monthly subscription to their dogshit app, which they’ve raised the price of three or four times already. Speaking of raising prices, they’ve raised the prices of the PPV at least twice in that same time.

But it’s the UFC’s fault? I can’t wait for the relationship between the two companies to end so I can delete this fucking app.

Rumor is that they’re heading to Netflix but that Netflix doesn’t want to do a PPV model. I’m wary of that one, too, because we all know how shitty their service was for the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight was and I also remember their bullshit foray into football where I tried to join the game at halftime and was unable to join live - it kept starting me at the pregame show for a game that was halfway over.

I'll be happy if they switch to Netflix (fuck ESPN). I had my share of problems with the Tyson vs Paul fight, but the football games worked great for me.

Leon Edward's got his ass kicked. Love to see it.
Seemed timid and overmatched. You could argue that two of those rounds were 10-8. Just a piss poor fight from Leon. Belal has been trolling the shit out of him. lol.

Kevin Holland looked pretty damned good though. He’s always been a guy that’s fun to watch… but is sometimes more sizzle than steak. He had a good fight against Gunnar.

Moreno looked good tonight. I like him and would like to see him be a champion again, I just don't think he has what it takes anymore.

I think they’re crazy if they don’t give him the rematch with Pantoja though. What else is there at that weight class that would move the needle, aside from Mighty Mouse coming back (which ain’t gonna happen)?

Hey, yo. What are we doing?

Smoked 6 turkey breasts for sliders with homemade cranberry relish. Looking forward to this card! There’s some sneaky good matchups. I’m really pulling for Paddy to have a star turn - the UFC could use it.

Gore did in the end but he was a game fighter, kept pressuring, and was fighting. Mitch Raposo in the next fight after that? Landed 9 strikes in three rounds and landed only 1/3 of his takedown attempts… and had the nerve to act surprised that he lost the decision. Fuck outta here with that. Fight, goddammit!

Wow. I was looking forward to Elkins v Erosa but Elkins seems completely washed. I don’t want to see him fight ever again. That was tough to watch.

Elkins looking shot, I dont think all had to do with that up-kick either. Horrible performance.

Me neither. He fell down the first time he was touched and they said “I think he was off balance” but, the way the rest of the fight went, you wonder if there was more to it.

Go coach, Darren. We’ve enjoyed your fighting career and you have a lot to be proud of. Please, don’t fight again.
