All you really need is a fully customizable knock off game.

I havent played a good NFL video game since the GOAT. espn2k5.

There was one a couple years back where dudes smarter than me created all the jerseys/names/players/rosters/draft classes.

Just copied the NFL info and essentially ported it over to the other game.

Its all in the dynasty/franchise modes for me as far as long term replayability goes.

From a company standpoint if you made a Madden XX that was fully customizable with a great/immersive franchise mode you wouldnt need to buy the new one each year haha. I get it. It sucks for consumers sadly.

Madden even tried to break the shit up with NFL Head Coach 09 or whatever. All the coaching/drafting/combine/free agency stuff done in a simulation game and then you had the arcade football Madden stuff.

ESPN 2k5 had all that shit in one 20 years ago. People were porting updated rosters into a 20 year old game and posting leagues and games up on youtube. I had an XBOX hooked up in the basement even though I had new systems just so I could scratch my real football itch on occasion even 10 years later. So far ahead of its time.

The reason Madden worked their NFL exclusive contract because it was a franchise killer game. And they pumped it out to fans for 19.99

I got into franchise mode when I was really into it in the early 00’s but for me it’s always been about 2 player. Once they started fucking with the controls, adding unnecessary features, and limited what you could do with the depth chart it kinda killed that for me. Just update the rosters and improve the technology/graphics and I’d be good. But I don’t play much either way anymore so I guess I’m not the target demographic anyway.

Haha I hear ya. I dont think I'm the target demographic either amigo lol.

Making an in depth customizable franchise mode for a nearly 40 year old gamer just aint at the top of the list.

Man I used to love that game. Then I ran into someone with Chinese symbols as a name… This fucker was attacking me with like 2 of his initial 3 guys and just using them to piss me off enough I had to worry about those two fuckers while he would constantly build up small troops.

Either way that was alway a fun game for me. I liked the strategy behind it and how counters worked.
