Oakland Raiders OT Robert Gallery (elbow) practiced Wednesday, Dec. 20, and should start Week 16. He is listed as questionable on the team's injury report. The team will evaluate his performance at left tackle to see if they need to use a high draft pick on the position next year. If Gallery struggles, the team would shift him to right tackle or move him to guard.

Isn't it odd that Oakland needs to take these last two weeks to evaluate Gallery. It's crystal clear from where I'm sitting. He was average at guard, average at right tackle and horrible at left tacke. Next question?

Not if we sign Simms:D

Good take.

Seems to me the organization "knows"...kind of embarrassing but hey it happens. The draft is the draft.

I think the Raiders are targeting Joe Thomas and they're giving Gallery one more shot to defend his position. They're hoping and praying they can go after Peterson or Lynch but fear they'll have to draft their next LT. They're trying to avoid that necessity.

God I hope not, at least not with our #1 or #2. I think Al will be gun shy after the Gallery/Grove debacle besides we drafted three OL last year. I think we can re-build the OL through FA and mid round draft picks. I'd hate to pass on a franchise type RB

One last try to light a fire?... I really find it odd that they just didn't shut him down for the year... Joe Thomas is a good player, but he's a mirror image of the Iowa version of Gallery... It'll suck having to use another top 3 pick to fill the LT spot, especially since both Marcus McNeil and Winston Justice were surprisingly there for the taking in the second round last year... :(

Myself? I grab Peterson and make a move to acquire Tra Thomas from Philly if Gallery is not up to speed... Maybe grab a guy at the top of the 2nd...

Here's to hoping Gallery shows well the last two weeks...

I am HOPING that Gallery finally plays like the beast he has shown flashes of being. Maybe he will get it going knowing his ass is on the line. If not he needs to re-work that contract or go. He has alot to play for. Good move by the Raiders. If he doesnt play well after all this, then its time to face the music. He is a HUGE bust.

I don't know what exactly we're expecting to happen in the last game of the season.

Is somebody going to be abel to tell that Gallery has arrived in that one game.

Psst... there are two games left... :D

No but he should at least show signs that we should give him another year. I dont expect him to play like Walt jones... hopefully just not Quincy Jones. I think since his injury happened his status has been even cloudier. im glad to get one last look at the guy. thats all.

He's had almost 3 years but now if he shows signs of improvement in two games it's OK? Nah, I think the Raiders know what they have here.

I don't think we have anything to worry about in this regard. :p

What a mess.

Yeah but he has looked very good at times in his first two seasons. Not during his first year at LT after like 3 different coaches and positions. Dont get me wrong thats why i capatalized HOPE! cause i am very skeptical. I am for giving him one more year regardless if he finishes or not. Slaughter as back-up. We need to re-negotiate his contract and let him have 1 more year. We have too many holes to give up right now unfortunatly. And drafting another stud LT scares the shit out of me. I dont think he has been giving a fair shot at LT just yet. With no Left guard , C, QB, WR, OC , HC or overall stability this guy has been set up to fail. At some point you have to blame our franchise for all these sure fire cant miss busts. We cant develop talent. Is it Gallery or us. Both? Chicken or the Egg. If we had LT would he look better?

The Raiders got to go RB....Gallery is very decent and at times very good with run blocking. He lacks on pass protection as I've mentioned too many times he stands too tall and plays on his heels not the balls of his feet. Worse case scenerio you get an "elite" back like Peterson and you can pound the rock. You go with another rook, plug him at LT and run with our current crap of backs and you've gained nothing.

Peterson Jihad......

Take the RB

Lineup in a 2 TE and give some help to Gallery if need be...

I'll still be pissed if he takes Slaughters job when Chads clearly proven to be better than the guy the brass wants to insert regardless of his play simply because he was the #2 overall pick

Move T-Rex to RT and lets be done with it already

Slaughter and Gallery would make 2 decent bookeneds, not great, but good enough to win games

Now lets move on to serious peoblem #2

That interor line

Coaching, coaching, coaching. Gallery was a brute at RT when we had coaching. We need legitimate offensive coaching.

Do you mean the El Cheapo cologne? Because I kinda thought he was average at best myself. Though thats way better than him now. Brute is too much flattery. In fact I don't think he's ever been a brute. No mean thug in him unfortunately. But with all that said I totally agree that coaching has a major hand in his utter futility as of late. I also think he wasn't meant to be any better than ok/good no matter who was in charge. Impossible to know for sure, but thats just my thoughts on his possible ceiling. I do know that I'm sour on our team's future as long as Art is coach and he's allowed to choose the OC.

I would argue that you must not have really keyed on him much as a rookie. He sealed off his man as consistantly as most any RT in the league. I was very impressed.

As for Shell, with all the drama he's created in the lockerroom and the piss poor game management and personnel decisions he's made, I don't see how anyone could expect him to suddenly become a legitimate coach in this league by simply bringing in a new OC. Shell will still be Shell, and we'll still be a bottom of the barrell team.
