Fuck You Pete Carroll

She was such a smoke show back in the day.

We need to get a young guy looking to make a name for himself. Al could always identify these guys but often didn't seal the deal on signing them (probably because he was going to have his say in the coaching).
If we had someone that could identify the good young talent we could maybe get one...
Remember when he wanted a young Sean Payton and Parcells told Payton to wait for a better opportunity? He wanted Sarkisian but settled for Lance...lol.
He did love offensive minded coaches.

The biggest problem is with Mark Davis. He's trying to bring the Raiders back to Al Davis' Raiders of the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. 2 reasons that is impossible.

(1) There is no Al Davis to be found. Al was the only football guy in NFL history who was a player, a coach, and a GM before becoming an owner. Nobody has ever had and nobody will ever have those kinds of qualifications. Gruden 2.0 didn't work because Gruden was a former player and a coach, but Gruden was never a GM or front office guy. Gruden developed Carr and he could coach as well as anybody, but he destroyed the roster and was a disaster in the draft. Brady is even worse. Brady is a former player, but never coached and never was a GM or a front office guy or even held a corporate position in any kind of a company.... and look how much further this place has fallen.... Brady has messed with the coaching staff, we didn't participate in FA, and our draft was a joke (to this point). We won't be able to get rid of Brady as easily as we got rid of Gruden 2.0.

(2) The Al Davis model stopped working in the 90s when TV money got big and NFL teams started to be run as corporations as opposed to mom and pop shops. As much as Al Davis knew about football, he could never compete with NFL teams being run as corporations with specialists in the front office and specialists in the draft. The closest Al came was with Gruden, Bruce Allen and Lombardi. Al had the foundation for a coach who could dominate and a real front office with solid guys like Lombardi and Allen who could build and run the football side... but Al couldn't give up control... he traded Gruden.... and Allen and Lombardi bailed.... and the Raiders were never relevant again. Mark has no clue how to build this and insists on bringing the Raiders back to the 60s, 70s and 80s model of 1 football guy (i.e. Gruden, Brady) running the entire thing with no accountability.

We're fucked. This goes much, much deeper than praying to Santa Claus that the next John Madden falls in our laps and dominates with little to no authority or control. We're relying on a retired Patriot QB to compete with full blown corporations, and there is no easy way to undo this mess now that Brady is an owner with no experience at anything outside of playing QB and rehashing Belichick stories. It's sad, it's pathetic, but it's our reality.

He could definitely identify them…

Imo, Al always grabbed the guy on the precipice of offensive football and then pulled back on him once he had used him, which is why he couldn't seal that deal that last ten years. Shanahan, Gruden, etc. Payton and Sark told him no even though Payton needed guys to talk him out of it. He needed somebody to put an offense together for him, and then he'd get some solemn looking offensive line coach to take over with it and take it from there until it got stale. Mark seems to be wanting an offensive powerhouse type HC for that reason but as alluded to has no clue on how to find one outside of looking at the same ones everyone else is looking for, which is always going to get turned down since they have options. If he could identify an unknown to the public type like Sean McVay at 30, he wouldn't be in this predicament. Then, there's the allowing that guy to work the kinks out as a first-time HC before he gets his itchy trigger finger, which is even worse than his father's without understanding even why he's doing it. Like could you imagine Nick Sirianni and all his antics here? He would have gotten fired halfway through year one, but at the end of the day, the guy's a good coach who has been two two Super Bowls.

Fucking cock sucking hack! There's a guy that never speak about respect!

JT seems to speak straight from the owner whatever is being said behind the scenes, but he never couches it that way. It used to be brutal listening to him gloss over that the Raiders were terrible back in the day on his national show because he was close to the organization.

“But the truth of the matter is this, Pete Carroll has been doing this a lot longer than Tom Brady, especially when it comes to front office and having to build and put together a team. Tom is the greatest quarterback of all time, but he’s never had to have any success from the seat that he’s sitting in right now. And it sounds like he’s been pretty, you know, involved in terms of some of the decision making.”

Pete is probably not built for this, but they need to keep this in mind for the next hire. Brady doesn't have a clue about building a franchise. Mark doesn't have a clue about anything. Spytek needs to pick the players and the next HC. If you hired him because you trust his football ability, that needs to be the move, and the other two along with Brady's minority guys need to step off for three years minimum while they try to build the roster. We literally have no players except a couple on both sides of the ball. It's a blank slate. Someone who wanted Chip Kelly as OC doesn't need to be involved in anything football wise going forward.

Yup, Spytek needs to be making the decisions going forward. You hired him, now let him do his job.

The HC is always going to have input and the plan the GM has to work around. Find the pieces the HC wants to execute his plan. Where shit goes sideways is when the HC is dictating fucking arm length for an entire secondary and is willing to dump the whole damn group to ensure everyone from the NB to the FS has 32” arms.

JT is Baghdad Bob.

Exactly why he's a hack. He's like a windy city politician!

Well said, except Mark never paid attention to his philosophy. He was too busy being daddy's spoiled little rich kid. He hung out with the players, not the coaches or front office folks. He might of followed Trask around trying for an upskirt, but that's about it. He needs a good president of operations! I think he believes Brady is filling that position. Idiot!

I don't feel as bad about letting the DB's walk as I do about Spillane and Chaisson! That was downright stupid. Pay an injured Koonce 12 million when Chasisson went for 1! Spillane would have given them a condor discount too!

Agreed. Actually if he was trying to bring us back to the Raiders of old I'd be totally down with it. He's tried to make us the Patriots and now the Seahawks but not any firm philosophy like we should have. If you have a strong philosophy as a team it is easier to have consistency (like the Steelers do).
