I guess this has sorta started in the general thread...but we are all pretty much in agreement that three positions should be addressed in Free Agency.
OLB, SS, and OG, possibly going DE as well.

I thought we should move the discussion to the war room and also compare what we can draft vs. what we can pick up in FA, and the possible price difference.

1. Julian Peterson (U) - San Francisco
2. Andre Carter (U) - San Francisco
3. Andra Davis (U) - Cleveland
4. Akin Ayodele (U) - Jacksonville
5. Will Witherspoon (U) - Carolina
6. Scott Fujita (U) - Dallas
7. David Thornton (U) - Indianapolis
8. Warrick Holdman (U) - Washington
9. Earl Holmes (U) - Detroit
10. Derek Smith (U) - San Francisco
11. Tommy Polley (U) - Baltimore
12. Nate Wayne (U) - Detroit
13. Nate Webster (U) - Cincinnati
14. Sam Cowart (U) - Minnesota
15. Rob Morris (U) - Indianapolis
16. Ben Leber (U) - San Diego
17. Nick Greisen (U) - NY Giants
18. Brad Kassell (U) - Tennessee
19. Cato June (R) - Indianapolis
20. Eric Ogbogu (U) - Dallas

Those are the top twenty linebackers in FA, the R stands for restricted FA.
I think this is a pretty deep group, but then again, so is the draft, with Hawk, Demeco Ryan, tweeners like Dumervil and Hali, even the dark horse AJ Nicholson, not to mention the possibility of LaVar Arrington getting released into the fold.

1. Adam Archuleta (U) - St. Louis
2. Will Demps (U) - Baltimore
3. Tank Williams (U) - Tennessee
4. Chris Hope (U) - Pittsburgh
5. Corey Chavous (U) - Minnesota
6. Terrence Holt (R) - Detroit
7. Ryan Clark (U) - Washington
8. Omar Stoutmire (U) - Washington
9. Lance Schulters (U) - Miami
10. Marlon McCree (U) - Carolina
11. Jon McGraw (R) - Detroit
12. Joseph Jefferson (U) - Indianapolis
13. Idrees Bashir (U) - Carolina
14. Dexter Jackson (U) - Tampa Bay
15. Keion Carpenter (U) - Atlanta

Those are the top 15 safetys...looks like most of them are FS.

Archulta is my first choice as far as a FA SS..even though Rupert disagrees!

I have heard a lot of bad trhings about Tank Williams in the last couple of months -- mainly that he has digressed every year since his rookie season. That doesn't make me feel good. Archulta's problem has been staying healthy but then that was Burgess' problem too until he hit Oaktown. ;)

1. Steve Hutchinson (U) - Seattle
2. Vince Manuwai (R) - Jacksonville
3. Roberto Garza (U) - Chicago (re-signed)
4. Sean Mahan (R) - Tampa Bay
5. Toniu Fonoti (U) - Minnesota
6. Brock Gutierrez (U) - Detroit
7. Jeremy Bridges (R) - Arizona
8. Stephen Neal (U) - New England
9. Greg Jerman (U) - Buffalo
10. Reggie Wells (R) - Arizona

Top 10 Guard FA's...not a real exciting group here either, getting Hutch would be a major coup! Bentley doesn't show up here because he's considered a center.

Archuleta would be admitting that we draft Derrick Gibson in the wrong spot?? But either Arch or Tank Williams is an upgrade over what we had.

1. Darren Howard (U) - New Orleans
2. John Abraham (U) - NY Jets
3. John Engelberger (U) - Denver
4. Robert Mathis (R) - Indianapolis
5. Raheem Brock (U) - Indianapolis
6. Anthony Weaver (U) - Baltimore
7. Marcellus Wiley (U) - Jacksonville
8. Kyle Vanden Bosch (U) - Tennessee
9. Cory Redding (R) - Detroit
10. Jacques Cesaire (R) - San Diego

These are the top ten DE's...I think Howard would be a good fit, seems like we have tried to pry him before according to reports, Abraham is a little small, we don't need another situational passrusher in my opinion.

I mean, we all want Mario, just not sure what the cost to move up will be for him.
