Newlywed Scott Stapp Arrested
Monday Feb 13, 2006 3:30pm EST
Former Creed frontman, Scott Stapp, was arrested for suspected intoxication on Saturday, a day after marrying his fiancée, Jaclyn Nesheiwat, in Miami.
Stapp, 32, was stopped by police at Los Angeles International Airport while trying to board a plane, MTVnews.com reports. The singer was on his way to Hawaii with his new bride where the couple planned to spend their honeymoon.
Police officers, who responded to a disturbance call around 6 p.m., found Stapp behaving in a belligerent manner and took him into custody, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Airport Police tells MTV. He was booked for public intoxication of drugs or alcohol.
The rock singer, whose recent solo album, The Great Divide, went platinum, was released and ordered to return to Los Angeles for an arraignment hearing March 8.
On Friday night Stapp and Nesheiwat, 25, said their vows at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a European-inspired estate on the waterfront of Biscayne Bay in Miami.
Nesheiwat, who wore a Vera Wang gown, walked down a 65-ft.-long rose-petal-covered aisle during the nuptials. Stapp's 7-year-old son, Jagger, served as the best man.
This is the first marriage for Nesheiwat, a former Miss New York, and the second for Stapp, who divorced Hillaree Burns in 1999 after a 16-month marriage.
