Former Bronco Kay is arrested again
By Hector Gutierrez, Rocky Mountain News
April 12, 2006

Former Denver Broncos tight end Clarence Kay found himself back in a jail cell after he was arrested Monday in Edgewater on a domestic-violence charge.
Kay, who has a history of arrests for alleged domestic violence and restraining-order violations, was accused by his girlfriend of shoving her and striking her in the face in the carport of their home, according to an arrest affidavit. Kay, 44, denied to police that he struck the woman in the face. Kay's bail was set at $1,000.

Edgewater police said the alleged victim, who is 52, walked into the department's headquarters Monday afternoon and said she was assaulted by Kay. She told police she had been involved with Kay since October.

The woman said the former Broncos player became angry while she was backing her 2003 Ford truck out of the carport, an officer wrote in the affidavit. Kay stormed outside and tried to remove the license plates, it said.

The woman told police she left the home and returned in the afternoon with a repairman. After accompanying the repairman into the basement, the woman went upstairs to meet with Kay so they could retrieve items from another car.

Kay allegedly yelled at his girlfriend and demanded the keys, according to the document. The woman told police Kay then shoved her against a carport post. Kay then allegedly hit his girlfriend on her right cheekbone, the affidavit said.

When officers went to the home, Kay did not answer the door, the affidavit said. The woman allowed officers inside, and they eventually located Kay and arrested him.
