Food & Drink thread

Food is all whole foods. Meat, vegetables, fruit. Sometimes I'll have a sandwich or something but 90% whole foods.

Nice, Im just eating clean and avoiding processed foods. No cold cuts, hot dogs, even bread. I eat blueberries and almonds as my go to snack. Aside from raw unfiltered honey on my yogurt, I have cut out sugars altogether.

I put my workout schedule, diet and meds into AI. Says I'm elite (lol) for my age. It's also nice when people notice. I don't want to lose too much more weight because I'm super comfortable around 205-210 and don't want to lose too much muscle mass and functional strength.

@JohnQ please educate this man on the greatness of abalone.
Not sure how I'm the resident abalone expert. Not sure I've ever had it. Used to be some Italian place. Maybe Banchero's or wherever had something called scalone. Mixed scallop and abalone meat made into a patty and battered and pan fried. Very good.

I hear abalone is very good. But pretty pricey since California got all fished out back in the day.

Isn't abalone harvesting tightly regulated in Calif. I think I had it a few times when I was a kid growing up in Calif and I remember I liked it. I think it's similar to conch or scungili which the Italians eat at Christmas Eve.

You can still go out and pick it off the rocks at low tide but you have to make sure they are keeper size and there is limits of course. My dad used to like to go abalone "diving" which is really just getting your wetsuit on and climbing around the rocks at low tide to find them. Maybe get your head underwater a little but not really diving which is good because those waters are great white breeding grounds...
Super tasty, you slice it, pound with a mallet, and do a little flour and cook in butter and garlic. It definitely has it's own taste.

I had a discussion about abalone at some point with someone here, I thought it was you but apparently not.

Got the kids all over for football tomorrow. Making korean chicken and waffles. Buying the chicken from Bonchon and making waffles from scratch. Real maple syrup none of that synthetic garbage.

I will be at your place tomorrow for breakfast.

My wife grew up in upstate New York. Outside of Albany 15 minutes from Vermont. She will not touch real Maple syrup. Along with Canada a lot of it comes from Vermont. It's all me and my son will use. But she insists on that nasty Log Cabin shit. Sometimes butter flavored.
🤢

I got my wife off that synthetic stuff. Real maple syrup is more expensive, but no way can it be as bad for you and there is no comparison in taste.

I couldn't find an email or something to link. But I had gotten a notification from Hog Island Oyster that they had Red Abalone available for a short time. This was a week or so ago.

Couple locations in the Bay. Good oysters and other seafood by the way.

Just saw a similar video on IG I think. I'm all about the citrus. But I would probably skip the Soy sauce.
