I would disagree Gallery is an F. Probably D or C.

Dude started 100 games for us, played a decade in the league. Was never a fuckin Tyree Wilson at his position.

Overdrafted sure. Not a bad player. It stings more based on passing on certain players.

Given the context of where he was drafted and who was available that got passed on, F minus.

In all fairness. It was a very safe pick.

I bashed him as much as anyone. Because despite it being a good pick he never lived up to what was thought to be his potential.

Always hurt.

Classic case of looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

Just to add context; I was merely grading them by how they played or what talent they flashed (Ruggs).

If the grading was based on other players available, Gallery ranks in the F category. But he couldn't control where he was picked.

He is probably almost a foot taller than me and I have a longer wingspan. Gannon was 39 coming off injuries we had 3 draftable blue chip QBs. The best safety prospect I have ever seen the deepest WR class, and we draft the only bust in the first round. The class was loaded with stars he was easily the worst pick in the entire first 2 rounds. He quickly went from LT to RT to G and was abismal at all of them a human revolving door. I think he was worse than Melick Watson, Paul McQ, and Leatherkneck.

Except those short arms should have been a red flag.

I laughed out loud because all of this is why this was an F pick. This isn't hindsight. I still don't know what in the hell Al was thinking.

Yep. I've made this point even to those who criticize the post Super Bowl Raiders until Gruden. Those were very good teams in the 90s. He just never was good at picking QBs, and the league's insistence on making the QB the be all, end all of the league post 1983 was the problem. Sometimes to his own detriment because you can't go back to 1991 and tell me that Todd Marinovich looked like a Raider over Brett Favre, but he let personal relationships cloud his judgment over what the physical attributes said. I just knew Favre was going to be drafted by him. Funny thing is that Herrock did take him, and I had no idea back then of the connection.

The loser Falcons drafted 2 guys BEFORE Farve at 33. Then traded him after 1 yr. But Marinovich couldn't throw, run, or think.

Yeah. I think Bruce Pickens was one of them. I can't remember the other pick. Like I said previously, I was attracted to that team and didn't know why, lol. Lot of Raideresque characteristics to it via Herrock. Favre did drink himself out of town by all accounts. Deion said he was partying 24/7. I just remember the one time he played for them, he threw a lot of picks. Because I was like how is Chris Miller still starting over him. This guy is going to be a Hall of Famer. Then that start happened, lol. I do remember seeing the trade in the paper that off-season and thinking he was still going to be good though.
