Do you think we will draft a RB on the first day when we already have a situation where Lamont Jordan and Rhodes will be splitting carries? it seems pretty unlikely to me now that I think about it. Its still a long term need in my opinion, but I can't see that kind of investment put into the position in the short term. I expect a late rd. RB though, which could turn out just as well.

The problem becomes, what if a guy like Lynch drops to 2.1? Could we expect to take even him? Is cutting Jordan the key to all of this, and is that realistic?

Thats a tough call.

Depends who's there...

I could see us taking Battle-Bush-Henry with 3.99 or 4.100 easily.

I can't say I'm all for it. We can get a 1st-2nd round quality RB next year if Jordan's gone and/or a FA. But if it aint AP, its not worth flushing out that pick. Lynch is a damn fine prospect, but not the next big thing imo.

I'd prefer to nab a all defense on first day after the 1st pick.

Thats my feeling also - wait till next year when there should be 5 or 6 guys in the draft that are Lynch quality or better with a couple of those guys being on Peterson's level or better. Plus you got Michael Turner as an UFA.

I think we probably should becasue we could use one, but I don't really think it'll happen.

With all the dual back sets it a good gamble to find a young RB to groom for cheap. Especially cause RB's get hurt so much. I agree that the #99/100 slot would be a good time to look at Michael Bush or Pittman.

How would you guys feel about picking up a premier, old school lead blocking hammer FB in the 5th or 6th rd.?

I would be very down with Leron McClain.

That's exactly the guy I want. Not only is he a pure lead blocker, but he also has some pass catching skills to where he wouldn't be a liability and could contribute in that aspect. I think we've really been missing that difference maker at FB since Jon Ritchie left.

i'd love the rb and fb idea if we weren't a little too deep at each position. Maybe a fb is possible. but rb just doesnt seem likely for day one. Its also not smart imo. Your defense is gonna be very valuable to any immediate success you want to have. So getting that sewed up would be smart.

Immediate success? I'd be inclined to focus more on the long term.

If we keep that in mind we could get a steal on a player like Bush, simply because he ideally needs to sit for a while in order to make a full comeback. That works perfectly because we wouldn't have a dire need now. If we could get a back of the future at a bargain price, not only in draft pick but in contract, we would be in a great position in the future.

I am so tempted to plug in Lynch at #33 in my Little Al, because I doubt Al would pass on him there, and I think he may trade up for him. I'm not going to, but if we wind up with Lynch, I'm gonna be kicking myself.

I just think all this talk about Lynch falling is crap, and someone will take him top 20.

OK, so if we don't get Lynch? I could completely see a RB Day 1. Bush? I dunno. I'm not getting a Raider vibe off of him. Not sure what it is. Maybe it's just that I am not a big fan of the big RB. I'd rather have that 5'10", 215 pound guy, that runs for 1200 yards for 10 years.

If we go RB, I hope it's with that late 4rd, and not something early. I'd rather think we stole some guy that fell, like a Pittman or Irons, than reached for one in the 2nd.

RB is not an immediate need, buy shoot, neither is WR.

I think Bush is coming into the draft with a huge chip on his shoulder. He probably would have been a first rounder save for the leg injury. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we drafted him the first day. Could ease those painful memories of Nick Bell. I like Battle on the second day and I think he's definitely on the radar screen. Could be our Michael Turner.

I don't think we draft a FB since we brought in Griffith but MccLain would have definitely been my choice.

Griffith isn't a major lead blocking fullback, though. I'd love to have that available in case we have the chance to put together a real running game here. You can't minimize the impact a Lorenzo Neal type lead blocker has on an offense, and Mac would also be able to be a receiving weapon in the flat if we needed.

I would take Lynch at 33 if he's there and not even think twice about it... We don't know how Lamont is holding up physically and that they had him take a paycut or be cut tells you that maybe he's not thought of longterm... Rhodes is on a two year deal and is more of a complementary guy... Lynch would give Kiff a big back that also fits as a WCO type pass receiver out of the backfield...

Outside of Peterson and Lynch, I'm not overly excited about any other first day prospects... I wouldn't be opposed about taking a flyer on Bush at the end of RD3, but I really wonder if he'll ever be the same back again...

Next years RB class is only good if the Juniors declare early... without them, it's kind of blah IMO...

Bush would be a great fit. Let him rest a year usher out Lamont and you have a cheap back-up with alot of potential who has to prove himself. I also think BUsh is going to be best suited as the #2 RB of a tandom. Imagine the McFadden, Rhodes and Bush stable after next season!

I think Bush has number one RB talent in the NFL, but his body is the major question mark...

That being said, is he worthy of the risk on day one, and are we in good enough shape to risk it? (Considering we can conceivably land 3-4 starters on day one)

I wouldnt mind Darius Walker, Jackie Battle and DeShawn Wynn in the mid rounds. All have speed, can catch out of the backfield and have upside...

I would have added Dwayne Wright to the list, but considering the fact he has stated that he is a die hard Chiefs fan...I hope he goes undrafted. :)

I'm betting Bush doesn't make it to the bottom of round 3. Somebody will take a flyer on him. Maybe NE with all the picks they have.

As for Lynch, I don't buy into him falling out of round 1. He may have a few issues off the field but he'll Cincy doesn't need a RB.

Lynch doesn't have off the field issues, besides an accusation that was determined to be false.
