Packers | Favre pushing team to acquire R. Moss?
Wed, 31 Jan 2007 09:13:04 -0800

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports there is speculation Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre would like the team to acquire Oakland Raiders WR Randy Moss in a move to help bolster the offense

Signing Moss will obviously mean that Favre will be back for at least another campaign. It's a win win for all involved right? Just give us Aaron Kampman staright up and I'll be happy.:D

Mortensen said talks were happening between the two teams, and Al's price was a 3rd rounder.

No fucking way. If Al was asking for a 3rd rounder this deal would be done already.

3rd sounds fair. I bet their GM trades down some in the 1st to get back a 3rd. Thats the way he seems to operate.

I think it's a 3rd rounder AND a receiver (to be named) from Green Bay in exchange for Moss. It's probably Ferguson.

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat if I were Oakland. That would give us 3 third rounders this year and quality depth at the receiver position if Gabriel doesn't stick. Lot's of draft trade scenarios could result.

Side note - if we are awarded a compensatory third rounder for losing Charles we could conceivably have the last pick in the third round and the first pick in the fourth. I might be the only one that finds that interesting.

Agree. I bet Al wants a minimum of a 2nd round pick maybe even a first.

I'd do that in a hearbeat. The salary/attitude dump alone is worth it IMHO. Still, if we are going Russell, Al is probably having visions of him slinging it 60 yards to a streaking Moss.

Problem for me is that Moss IMO is a shell of his former self. I don't think he gets the separation that he used to and his effort & passion appear to be gone.

I still want a second. But i guess if we drafted Steve Smith with that third, he would be a better fit here then Moss. If they give us a reciever it better be Jenning's not Fuergie

We could always package a Moss 3rd & the Woodson 3rd for a another second and draft any number of WR's. We should have many options.

The Woodson pick is a comp pick and those can't be traded.

This looks a case were Al has priced Moss to sell. Reminds me of the Corey Dillon situation a few years back were everybody knew the Bengals were going to unload him. Not many teams were scrambling to pick up an aging, disgruntled RB but eventually the Patriots stepped in with a late 2nd round pick. I think Al is probably hoping one of the playoff caliber teams does the same thing this year but if not he'll settle for a 3rd knowing we really aren't in a position of strength here.

It feels like at the time of the trade Al rarely gets screwed. Maybe down the road it looks bad, but he usually gets his value somehow. I think its one of the ways the Raider magic helps, they know not to fuck wit the man.

I think if we can stockpile some 3rd rounders, Al will probably unload a pick or two to move up. He's just not the kind of guy who's content sitting with a slew of picks, although with all the deficiencies on our offense, we could do a lot of damage this upcoming draft.

Yeah, if we wound up with three 3rd's, and 2 5ths, I can't imagine him staying put at the top of the 2nd.

A 3rd sounds about right to me, BTW. I don't think Moss' value is anywhere close to where it was two years ago.

I am cool with Moss getting traded but we need something in return. I don't want to give him away, He needs to worth something. We all know he wasn't happy and this team stunk last year. With the right parts around him he would dominate once again.. So with that in mind, I would be OK with a 3rd but I want a WR or DT or RB (they have a few).
