Embree leaving for NFL's Chiefs
By Brian Dohn, Staff Writer
UCLA assistant head coach Jon Embree became the second member of the coaching staff to leave for NFL, accepting the position of tight ends coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, sources said.
Embree served as UCLA's tight ends coach the past two seasons after coming to the school as a receivers coach. Former Bruins running backs coach Eric Bieniemy left to join the staff of the Minnesota Vikings last month.
Bruins coach Karl Dorrell could fill Embree's position with assistant Brian Schneider, who spent the past three seasons coaching special teams and on defense.
Before joining UCLA's staff three years ago, Schneider spent six seasons coaching tight ends and coordinating the special teams at Colorado State.
Embree interviewed for the Chiefs job two weeks ago, but the deal was not finalized until recently. An announcement is expected today.
