CHIEFS NOTES
Edwards hires another assistant
The Kansas City Star

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards has added Mike Ketchum to his staff as offensive assistant/quality control coach.

Ketchum spent the last three seasons as a defensive graduate assistant coach at the University of Iowa, helping the Hawkeyes go 27-10 and win two bowl games.

Ketchum was a four-year football letterman at the University of the South, where he also played rugby.

His hire completes Edwards’ staff. Also Tuesday, the Chiefs officially announced the hires of Jon Embree (tight ends) and David Gibbs (defensive backs).

■ KARMELOWICZ JOINS TEXANS: The Houston Texans have hired former Chiefs defensive line coach Bob Karmelowicz. The Houston Chronicle reported Karmelowicz will coach the defensive line under new coach Gary Kubiak.
