is there any way we don't end up with Chris Long on our team?

I'm just asking

What position would he play in a 4-3 defense? My guess would be base end. But we got Burgess.

Good shout on Chris Long. Glenn Dorsey or Darren McFadden wouldn't upset me either.

I think we take the BPA next year in round 1. We should be looking at RB, OL, WR, DT, DE in rnd one. Its never to early to start a jihaad. McFadden, Mario Manningham, R.Rice, Slaton, S.Baker, J.Long, Dorsey, Okam.. doesnt it feel nice to not worry about young QB's anymore. We are finally set at the position for the forseable future.

Gotta go DT early, and possibly often.

Howie Jr is a guy that you just know Al has on his radar. If he can get up to DT size, I'd almost guarantee that we're looking at drafting him.

Or, perhaps Al loosens the deathgrip from Ryan's throat and lets him tinker with the 3-4 again.

what on gods green earth would we do that for...

oh wait Brayton is making himself a hybrid DE/DT...

We drafted Q Moses who looks like a 3-4 OLB

Bing who is too small to play LB in a 3-4 back to SS

we extend the only NT on our team in big Terd...

we extend Robert Thomas who would make a good ILB in the 3-4

If we dont extend burgess and Kelly starts looking like a base end this might have more legs then youd think...

Moses and Burgess at OLB
Morrison and Howard inside.
Howard getting some snaps outside as well, just for kicks.
Brayton was a solid, if not really good, 3-4 end for the couple games he played there.
Kelly looks custom made for that scheme, played well as a nickle pass rushing NT, and played DE and NT in MSU's 3-3-5.
Richardson could potentially be viewed as a 3-4 end.
Huntley could turn out to be a stud DE, but I want to see more of him before I speculate as to how he fits in a 3-4.

Sapp is really the only square peg. But if we wanted to use the 3-4 on downs where he was catching a breather, I think we're much better equipped for it than the last time we tried it.

Say no to crack.

And the 3-4 defense.

You gotta admit, you take Sapp out of the picture and we've got a bunch of guys that seem to fit...

It would bother me from the standpoint that we'd need to be drafting top 10 again to get those guys... If we're talking top 10 again, I'm all about Calais Campbell... 6'9 pass rushing DE's just don't come around that often...

McFadden is awesome, but I wouldn't mind getting his backfield mate Felix Jones (or a Justin Forsett for that matter) as a compliment to Michael Bush...

Unlike this year, there actually should be a bunch of good sized DT's next year... Maybe we'll throw Stepper's Tejas A&M farmschool homer ass a bone and draft that big Sam Adams looking DT they have... I forget his name...

Makes a ton of sense to switch considering that crappy year we had on defense, and how successful we were the first go around...

Its supposed to be baby steps forward guys, not one forward and two back.

I think Crow vastly overrates Brayton and Kelly too.

Sands is a rotational guy. Who plays NT for the other 30 snaps?

Is Burgess better as a LB and his hand off the ground? I doubt it.

We've got mahogany over here.......

It does highlight to me that we have added a couple of players with some flexibility which combined with what we already had allows us to do some things scheme wise. It doesn't have to be an every down thing, but it is useful to be able to throw some different looks out there especially with the young QBs we have in the division.

We will not be drafting top 10 again, but Al could always look to move up.

I didn't get to see Miami this year, but Calais? Are Courtney, Quentin, Orenthal and Stanford not enough for you?

Felix Jones looks like a very good player.

Red Bryant?

I'd like to see how his leg heals up. He's a big, big man though.

Yes. We mustn't change a thing. The only way for this defense to continue to improve is to do exactly the same thing every week and every year. Deviating from that formula can only lead to disaster.

I think Crow vastly overrates Brayton and Kelly too.

Maybe Brayton's two studly games as a 3-4 end were back to back aberrations. Or, maybe not. And hey, if Kelly isn't up to it, 3-4 ends aren't exactly hard to find.

Sands is a rotational guy. Who plays NT for the other 30 snaps?

Well, since I wasn't advocating a complete switch to the 3-4 this season, I don't really think that's something that should concern us at this point. But, again, on passing downs, Kelly has shown some ability to get past centers into the backfield out of this alignment. Maybe he can show it again.

Is Burgess better as a LB and his hand off the ground? I doubt it.

Well, he was a LB in college, so it wouldn't exactly be something foreign to him. Given a little more room to operate, maybe he wouldn't get stood up by TEs quite as often. Just a thought.
