Talent, value, need — relative to when drafted — are the metrics by which to grade a pick. Fit is a 4th metric, but I assume every player drafted fits from the HC/GM’s PoV. A player who you could not get b/c another team would not trade is an odd ground to judge a pick.End of day 2 and my cumulative grade so far is a C-. D- for the Bowers pick; A+ for the Powers pick and a D for the Glaze pick.
Talent:
- Bowers: A+
- JPJ: A+
- Glaze: C
- Bowers: A
- JPJ: A-
- Glaze: D
- Bowers: A-
- JPJ: A
- Glaze: C
- Bowers: A
- JPJ: A
- Glaze: C-
The disappointment of not landing a QB certainly dampens and tempers things. But failing to trade with Tenn or Alt before the draft to secure Penix is not something to judge draft day selections. And a 5th weapon was a need, I just thought it would come from a 3rd round WR.
