***Draft Day Two 2024*** NO SPOILERS!

End of day 2 and my cumulative grade so far is a C-. D- for the Bowers pick; A+ for the Powers pick and a D for the Glaze pick.
Talent, value, need — relative to when drafted — are the metrics by which to grade a pick. Fit is a 4th metric, but I assume every player drafted fits from the HC/GM’s PoV. A player who you could not get b/c another team would not trade is an odd ground to judge a pick.

Talent:
  • Bowers: A+
  • JPJ: A+
  • Glaze: C
Value:
  • Bowers: A
  • JPJ: A-
  • Glaze: D
Need:
  • Bowers: A-
  • JPJ: A
  • Glaze: C
Total:
  • Bowers: A
  • JPJ: A
  • Glaze: C-
Overall unweighted grade: B+

The disappointment of not landing a QB certainly dampens and tempers things. But failing to trade with Tenn or Alt before the draft to secure Penix is not something to judge draft day selections. And a 5th weapon was a need, I just thought it would come from a 3rd round WR.

It's not just about not getting a QB... It's about taking a player we didn't have a need for, don't have a QB that can properly utilize him and don't have a On-line that can keep our middling QB upright. We are the restaurant that doesn't have an oven or stove, has two rickety tables but...oh wow.... look at the amazing chandelier we bought! The Oregon State RT and Powers would have been an A++++ draft.

A 5th weapon is and was a need. Adams and Meyers could be gone next year. Mayer and Tucker both showed promise but nothing to bank on yet.

Myopically pigeon holing and understating Bowers’ film and college production as a slot, H and outside receiver — which he played far more than in-line TE — is a silly way to gauge need. You’re just hating on shit at this point and refusing to acknowledge Bowers projects well and fits 12 personal Getsy likes to run.

Bowers is precisely the type of mismatch weapon you want to add to a WCO get the ball out quickly scheme. Also, with JPJ, I like our OL. I’m not down on Munford, as you are. I think he’s a better fit in a zone-blocking scheme than a power-gap scheme.

Bowers is the guy you get when you are a player away from being a Super Bowl contender. We aren't even a playoff contender. It was a stupid pick then and a stupid pick now. The RT from Oregon State was both value and need. We would have had the stud O-line to help our running game and protect our middling QB.

I was stuck at work all day and didn't see Jack shit of the draft, it's been fun catching up on all 40 pages of you guys in real time can't say that I'm upset with our pics so far

This some wild logic. Penix will be the official crowd chant every time Cousins doesn’t play well. Maybe even if he does. You could’ve drafted lower and had a developmental kid wait that long.

Also I get that it’s the Aaron Rodgers/ Jordan Love strategy. But using that strategy on an older qb with the 8th pick after signing Cousins to a big contract? With a defensive HC? It just looks strange.

Delmar Glaze

As a Redshirt Junior in 2023: Third Team All-Big Ten selection ... Played in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl Game ... Started every game at left tackle for the Terps in 2023, anchoring an offensive line that blocked for the fourth-ranked overall offense in the Big Ten (387.3 ypg) and the top-ranked passing offense (278.9 passing ypg) in the league ... The second-rated pass blocking tackle in the Big Ten via Pro Football Focus with an 83.1 grade and the fourth-rated tackle overall (over 750 snaps).

The Raiders were never going to draft Fuaga. Just ask your uncle Hondo….lol. He is overrated. A very good run blocker and people thought he was a Piece guy. He and the CB Arnold were miscast as Raiders.

This T-Rex and your mojo aren’t going to make Carr any less scared bitch than he already is.

Zero problem taking JPJ as our plug and play RG (transitioning to OC Y3) over Fuaga with Bowers moving the chains and scoring TD’s in the redzone. Two blue chip prospects. Letting Eluemunor walk forced our hand in the 3rd round after drafting BPA in the 1st and 2nd. Having coaches at the senior bowl with Philbin and Getsy having a good track record fielding OL, I’ve got my popcorn ready for him too.

And the highest rated OT fell into the Chefs lap. Sure hope The Huddle Report is right about Suamataia. Three NFL GM’s seemed to think so.
