So just wanted to drop a new one down. The cell I was talking up has finally hit the stores, Moto G Stylus 128gb. Grabbed the last two at my local shop yesterday for discounted $179 each. Nice processor, 4gb RAM, an unexpected 4 lens 48gb camera is exceptional, uses either gestures or the traditional back/home/active setup of most phones.

Screen is bright and sharp, data is smooth and fast (clocked 90mbps download on speedtest.net).

Installed most of the software from my last phone, settings, contacts and everything from Google backup, had all my icons and quick links up and organized with widgets, search bars, news feed, etc.. in under an hour from purchase.

Ordered a kickstand case for it from Amazon which should be here today for $9, the ones in the store are stupidly overpriced.
 
Fuck. Coffee mug just fell out of the cupboard and smashed my phone to shit.

$220 to get the screen repaired
$299 to replace the phone (current Amazon sale)
$999 to get the current gen replacement (from Pixel 2 XL to Pixel 4 XL)

Not sure it makes sense to repair at that price point. Replacement makes sense, but I was hoping to upgrade sometime in the next 18 months. Not really excited about spending that extra $700 right now though...
 
My boss jumped in the lake with his phone and, to say the least, it no longer works. Got a new one and I tried setting it up for him... in order to active the new IPhone you need an activation code. That activation code will only be sent to you via text to to your number on file. But the fucking phone on file doesn't work and I need to activate the new phone. Sat on the phone for over an hour combined with Verizon and Apple trying to figure out what to do and they couldn't give me any options. Fucking joke.

He’s a cool older dude who’s treated me really well the last six years so I try to help him out with shit like this since he’s lost with newer technology. But holy shit dealing with Verizon and Apple is a pain in the ass. I think he jumped off the boat with his grandkids and forgot it was in his pocket haha

I know the feeling. Went to do the paperwork for my wife to buy a gun this weekend and took a copy of our mortgage note, property insurance, W2, paystub, and official tax transcript as secondary proof of residence (DL is primary). Nope, nada, no bueno. Has to be a utility bill which for whatever reason are in my name only. Guys says the mortgage stuff doesn't prove you live there. I wanted to say "and a utility bill does?" but didn't bother. The rules are what they are. Spent all day today trying to get her added to one of the accounts and most places won't even connect you with a human due to COVID staffing. Finally I hit the "I smell gas" option for PG&E just to get a live person. FML.

No she’s buying a gun and I’m using it lol. Just stocking up a little for possible resale down the road and trying to get around the 30 day purchase limit. She wants to learn to shoot though which kinda surprised me.

I’m too stubborn for that... I’m really trying to like the damn phone, just certain things aggravate me.

I have yet to find a way to refresh a page without hitting the refresh button in google.

When I am skimming through videos on YouTube it randomly scrolls back to the top.

The phone takes forever to charge ( battery life is better though)


Those are some of the big things I don’t like.
 
I just ordered a Pixel 4 XL. Not really happy with spending that much on a phone right now since I wasn't planning on replacing the phone at the moment. But I can't bring myself to breaking out of the "Made by Google" phones.
 
Ordered my replacement cell phone from the Google Store on Tuesday. Paid the extra for rush shipping so that I could be sure to get the phone before the weekend so I could set it up and have it available before the work week starts.

Fast forward to Friday and the damn phone hasn't even left the warehouse. I reached out to Google Support and got the run around. Was directed to the financing bank and then *back* to Google Support. Finally got someone who could help and said they would reach out to the shipping specialist to ask WTF is going on with my phone. I got no response before the end of the day Friday and I haven't gotten anything (unsurprising) over the weekend.

I need to get this update from the shipping facility first thing in the morning on Monday or shits going to going down. I will be asking for a refund of the $20 I spent for expedited shipping, but if this takes any longer, they are going to need to knock off about $50 from the purchase price too.
 
Actually just picked up a new iPhone.

It drove itself all night from the warehouse just to get to me on time.

Went through two screen protectors but figured out how to put that shit on myself because the worthless fucks at the AT&T store won't touch phones. "We'll sell you the screen protector". Fuck off. I'll go to Walmart and pay 25% of what you dorks charge.

People at the AT&T are useless. Part if the reason I usually buy my phones at Costco.
