D. Carr has been released

You guys realize that if we still draft Russell, that means we don't actually have a decent starter for a season or two (Walter blows)

Sign Carr to a 'prove it' deal and let him get a chance to prove some people wrong...

Its a can't lose, IMO.

I haven't seen enough of Dave Carr to really have any kind of an informed opinion. I'm just amazed out how awful the Texans FO has turned out to be. First it was the Buchanon deal... then they passed on Reggie Bush... and now they couldn't even get anything in return for Carr.

As for the draft, I don't think this impacts whether Davis goes QB or WR at #1 because Russell needs a lot more time to develop.

I'm getting worried as I told HBoy (or did he tell me? -- senior moment) that Al might just f/ck this shit up.

Only 35 more days of worrying to go... It could be worse though, we could be sitting at 3 or 4 and worrying about what Al will give up to trade up to 1...

In the hawaiianboy lonely but always amazingly accurate world of draft, there's only three ways to go:

1) Sit tight at 1 and take a chance on JaMarcus Russell's out of this world physical skill sets...

2) Trade back to 3 or 4 and grab Brady Quinn and his nuthugging fanboys...

3) Sign Carr and make the trade with Atlanta to move back to 8 and grab Adrian Peterson if he's still there, Gaines Adams, Alan Branch or Levi Brown if he's not....

To Atlanta: #1 (Calvin Johnson)

To Oakland: #8, #39, #44, Roddy White and their 2008 1st...

Stock up more on 2008 draft picks by trading Moss to GB for their 2008 2nd and Lamont to the Bills for their 2008 4th... (I think 2008 will be a stronger draft as far as our need areas go)...

:D

It's a can't lose if we decide that we don't need to draft a QB cause we now have Russell.

Singing Carr along with Russell? Fine.

But if we somehow decide that we don't need a franchise Qb because we picked up a QB off of Houston's scrap heap that jumps everytime a door slams, then I'll pass.

nuthugging fanboys...

Actually made me laugh out loud. :D

I love the idea of Walter, Russell, Carr. Fight it out boys. One pick up - One draft choice - and how much better do the next 10 years look at the QB position. It would be pure buzzard luck if all three bust, but that doesn't mean that the bet was wrong.

Vacation is over for me boys (and girl). The days of ten posts a day (yeah, I'm sure some of you are sick of my article humping) are over and I gotta get back to work, peddling good ideas and karma (how's about we don't kill millions of dogs/cats per year).

Monday is still two days away and b4 then, hopefully we get another QB. Put me strongly in the Carr then Culpepper (I've thought Pepp's had the best name in the NFL for a few years - a true southern gem. Not to mention the fact that he was born in prison - doesn't that make him a Raider by default?) and drafting a QB in round 1 (Quinn or Russell). Give Cable a year to mold the talent on the O line. Ryan should stay a DC, but that's the homer in me. I think if he becomes a HC, it won't be for us. I'm impressed with KK's staff and the obvious impact the new energy is bringing to a team that has been desperately seeking an identy ever since Brooks snapped Rich's neck. I'm thinking that the vocal leaders (Sapp, Schweigert, Burgess, and yes, Walter (who else had the stones to say it?)) will thrive in the new environment, and bringing Jerry back from the dark side (I told you so, attitude aside) will help as well.
Defense in round 2 and O line / TE next. It's been great spending my vacation with ya'll, and now I gotta go back to the three checks a day routine (and far less bongloads). :p

Has to make you wonder doesn't it? Maybe we can get Dominick Williams in a package deal. I've pretty much come to the realization that if Carr is signed, Al's not going to hand over a 25-30 mill guarantee to JRussell. JMO.

Why not? Carr is not going to command much, Walter is a bargain. Booty got a toaster. You can add a salary here and not be overspending at the position.

Hey R4, you like northern lights or purple haze?

Classy move by the Texans to release the guy and allow him to test the waters and find the best situation for himself. Hopefully he wants to come back to the West Coast. In Houston, he was asked to carry the team offensively and he couldn't do it.

Here he will be asked to manage the game and let the defense win it for him. As long as he can keep the turnovers down and complete some passes to keep the clock churning, he has a chance to be very successful in Oakland with this voracious young defense. We need an accurate passer that can help keep drives alive, chew some clock, and put 17-20 points on the board and we can be a very successful team if we limit turnovers.

Hey R4, you like northern lights or purple haze?

Often fond of the various haze strains (cantaloupe haze is the newest - very fruity and almost all crystals), I've been into a number of sativa indica cross breeds lately. Baba Kush and some Diesel hybrids with morningstar. Northern lights is always a heady strain, but gets kind of assy after the first few tokes. These new hybrids are like Maxwell House - Good to the last pull. A friend just crossed a bubbleberry with an old Brazillian Afghani gold. He won't get off any (personal stash), but it makes the most flavorful and potent j I've ever met.

I fell sorry for what Vick gets in the ATL.

Raiders' coach Lane Kiffin confirmed that he has spoken with Carr's agent about potentially acquiring the quarterback, insidebayarea.com reports.

Kiffin did not elaborate on the outcome of those talks, and the Raiders appear poised to select JaMarcus Russell with the first overall choice in April's draft. Carr is scheduled to visit the Seahawks and Panthers next week.

I bet Carr never even makes it to us.

If I was him, I'd be eyeballing Jake Delhomme in Carolina. Jake better be careful to see who's following him down the stairs during costume changes.

(Oh, sure, cause I'm the only one that saw Showgirls)

I own Showgirls actually.

Only because I couldnt get my hands on real porn as a youngin' though... ;)
