The ball is now in Carr's court. the Texans said they wanted to "do right by David" and they did. If there was a trade on the table from any team, then DC must have nixed it. Likely there were none. Now it's up to him. I kinda liked the trade option. Get him for two years at about 6million per year with no signing bonus. The next 2 years (including SB and guaranteed money) will likely cost more than that for whoever signs him, and they'll also be stuck with him for the contract, which will likely be longer than two years, if he does not work out.
That said, we should defintiely sign him.
Jmac thinks:
Carr free to chose

David Carr will hit the open market today when the Houston Texans give him his release.
The Texans will make the announcement shortly, an NFL source said.
If the Raiders are interested, they won't have to part with any draft picks to bring Carr aboard. On the other hand, as a free agent, Carr may want assurances he won't be pushed aside for a high draft pick.
The Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins are in the market for quarterbacks, but may be looking elsewhere. Miami reportedly has a deal in place with Kansas City's Trent Green, although the two teams have not worked out compensation.
As for the Vikings, Minnesota coach Brad Childress is not a big fan of Carr's skills.
"David Carr is a tremendous person," Childress said on a local radio show. "I always struggled with where his release came from. It's kind of a drop-down, three-quarter release. ... He can make some of the throws; he can't make all the throws."
