Per ESPN news...here's the clip:

If the Vikes want our first round pick, then the Phins can have him - that pick is way too valuable to be used on a guy coming off a bad injury.

That being said, if we can get him for a lower round pick + filler, I'd take the chance with Pep. He could potentially work out very well for us.

More like a conditional third in 2007 to escalate to a 2nd....

I dunno about Pepper...that knee really bothers me.

Our first pick this clearly is out of the question. The VIks are not in a position to be asking for anything like that. Culpepper's trade value couldn't be lower right now.

I pass period. his knee is questionable at best. how do we know moss and daunte would get along again.

Which knee?
It's his right knee. Here is what happened to it:

On October 30, he suffered a knee injury during a 38-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Culpepper sustained damage to the three major ligaments in the knee: the anterior cruciate, posterior cruciate and medial collateral. He was placed on injured reserve, and is currently undergoing rehabilitation treatment in Florida.

Week 8 at CAR - After a remarkable turnaround last week in the second half for Culpepper and a come from behind win, it seemed he may have turned the corner on a disappointing season. Culpepper started the first series under pressure as Carolina blitzed on three straight plays and forced a punt. He got things going in the second possession completing three of four passes for 28 yards and into Panthers’ territory with the offense show signs of last week. Unfortunately, on his only rushing attempt of the game, Culpepper ran for 18 yards into the red zone and was hit by two Carolina defenders from opposite sides. Carolina cornerback Chris Gamble hit Culpepper on the right knee as safety Mike Minter up high coming from the left side awkwardly bending the right knee. Culpepper was helped off the field to the sidelines before being taken to the locker room to be examined. Fox Sports is reporting he suffered damage to his ACL, PCL and MCL ligaments and will have season ending surgery.

Yuck, his plant foot. That's the one that NEEDS the stability.

That said. Adam Kennedy, 2nd baseman for the Angels, tore both the ACL and MCL making a play at second a couple seasons ago. He was back playing 2nd with a brace after 6 months of rehab.

Since Culpepper's injury happened in the pocket will this make him a little more jumpy as the play develops? Could beeeee.

It happened after a long run, not in the pocket. It might have the opposite effect where he won't run even when it's the best option ala' McNabb.

Hmm. I must have been remembering someone else's injury. I can see the highlight now. Yeah, that might learn him.

Reports now are that Minnesota is asking a 2nd rounder and we told them to pound sand while peeing up a rope.

Yup... That's what I hear. Only time will tell if that is a wise decision or not. If it turns out anything like our previous 2nd rounders then I might prefer to take a flyer on Pep.

From all reports the Raiders (and others) said no way at the prospect of giving up a second for Culpepper.

To me his market value right now is a conditional thrid (next year)...anybody who trades for him has to make sure he is going to be able to play.

Besides, his welcome has wore out in Minnesota and the Vikings are on the hook for a $6 Million bonus of some sort in a week or so. That will force their hand. They may have to release him outright.

Pep to Oakland? Not happening guys....you don't want him anyway!! :p

I'm not a big Culpepper fan. I've always thought he threw too many jump balls (alot like Favre). But, if you're going to throw a jump ball, the guy to throw it to is Moss. I don't see any reason to trade for him. Their going to end up releasing him. As a FA, I see him signing a low-ball incentive laden contract. I could live with something like that.

Yeah but from what I've read Daunte can't even practice till August because of that knee....so why deal with that? There have to be better options out there!!
