Or does this simply mean Art is going to add him to the mix this week being the guy only carried the ball once last week?

Raiders | Fargas to receive bigger workload Week 10
Fri, 10 Nov 2006 08:04:14 -0800

Bill Soliday, of MediaNews, reports Oakland Raiders RB Justin Fargas, who had just one carry Week 9, will see more action Week 10, according to head coach Art Shell.

Jordan is still injured, altough he can play.

Well, I read somewhere Jordan was being openly critical of Walsh... That seems to be a pretty good way to end up in Art's doghouse...

Given his recent criticisms and now his I will accept it and keep my mouth shut stance, I think he got a talking to for openly venting about Art's favorite Mayor.

So that might have put him in the doghouse.

So what does that reduce his carries from 10 a game to 5?

Yes indeed criticizing Walsh is a good way to end up on Art's shit list. Loyalty is admirable and all, but I find it hard to argue with Jordan's comments. Despite what Art says about seeing other teams run the same routes as we do, if you're dead last in the league in most if not all offensive categories, you are not doing the things that other teams do. I suspect at the end of the season if not sooner, someone is going to have to answer for this horrendous offensive performance. I suspect then loyalty will give way to self-preservation.

Also after a one carry performance against the Hags, it's not saying much to declare that Fargas will see more action this week.

I think this is the critical juncture in Art's stint as HC here. He is very close to losing the locker room with his loyalty to Walsh. He is telling the players that his buddy is above the team and winning. I am not usually a proponent of in-season coaching changes and up until Monday I was still thinking it might be best to wait until the end of the season. But I am now thinking this is going to get away from Art real quick if he doesn't act soon. Even if he keeps Walsh, but spilts the play calling, it is better than nothing. He needs to give the players the impression that he is at least trying and that no one (player or coach) is above the team. JMO.

I don't think you get in his doughouse this way, being hurt I mean. I think if he wasn't hurt they would want to spell him some anyway. I think that Fargas is showing he wants to play this year and Art is giving him a chance since Jordons hurt and lets face it Crockett isn't running away from any DL. Over them maybe!

Many of you may have had a similar experience as I did when Art Shell was brought back. My first thought was "OK - he wasn't at the top of my list but at least he might be able to restore some order around here and with a little patience and hard work he might be able to get us back to respectability." The more I thought about it the more I felt I could deal with a few seasons of his expressionless face on the sidelines - not to mention his old-school, basic X's and O's approach to the game, monotone media performances, and notorious clipboard as long as it looks like he's getting the ship sailing in the right direction. I actually dusted off my Committment to Excellence flag I bought in the 70's thinking maybe, just maybe the great Aurthor Shell would make a difference in today's climate of professional football. And truthfully, it was even a bit refreshing knowing we got a true warrior, a true Raider, to lead our troops. Never mind the fact that the other head coach condiderations didn't exactly jump at the opportunity...

What I didn't count on was perhaps the most ill-advised, short-sided, head up your ass, rediculous hire maybe in the history of the NFL. How in the world can a guy be out of pro football for over 12 years, changing soiled sheets, flipping hotcakes, and kissing babies for votes in some unknown mid-western hole even be considered as the remotest of long-shots for o-coordinator?

The Jeff George signing, the Gabriel trade, the Jerry Porter debacle, the Swann Valey connection...don't get me wrong, I still like Art Shell and believe in what he's trying to do but c'mon big fella. It's time to sac up.

Dude...another great post. Where the fuck you been hiding all these year?

And yes, my first reaction was pretty much the same. ``...Well, at least he's a Raider through and through". I expected a really good hire for the OC postion to make up for Art's lack of X's and O's expertise -- enter Tom Fucking Walsh. OMG...game, set and match.
