With the Moss money, I'd like to see:
JR with no holdout
Extend Nnamdi and/or Burgess

Does anyone know what BMW is going to cost? Does he restructure? How much has been paid in bonuses already? He's got 4 years left on his contract that was 13.5 million with 10.5 guaranteed.

I would think he has to restructure vis his 2007 value.

Heres what I'm thinking we do

Extend Burgess and Aso pay them like high end FAs
Get JR signed before minicamp (this is going to be tough even with moss money as he has to fit under the rookie cap and still pay everyone else)
BMW restructured to a 3 year deal for bugscat
McCown restruct to a 2 year deal for less then Aaron Brooks Money or left alone (1 year left)

I'm wondering what Lamonts future with us is... If he doesnt claim that starting job handily he may not be on the opening roster. Money is a big thing to this org right now and we need to clean a little house.

I doubt that McCown or the Raiders want more than a 1 year deal at this point. Seems to me that both sides see this for a what it is: A short term situation that is mutually beneficial.

As Derrick Burgess and Nmandi Asomugha - I'm more inclined to re-work Burgess' deal first. Primarily because he has proven himself for 2 consecutive years. As much as I have (from the beggining thank you) supported Asomugha, I'd prefer to wait until the middle of the season before working on that.

JaMarcuss Russell - This is no revelation, but obviously the Big Man needs to be in camp ASAP. I'd like to see him in Alameda later this week just to get a jump on the introductions, study routine, etc. Hopefully all sides will see the importance of this and get the deal done with haste.

Here's BMW's remaining salary:

2007 600000.00
2008 885000.00
2009 975000.00
2010 560000.00

He's set as far as contracts go. If he excels this year and next, then we can talk about giving him a payday.

McCown is basically a one year deal. If he wants to stay with us, then he'll do a long term contract, but he'll be doing it knowing that he's going to stay 2nd string barring a Russell injury or meltdown.

Jordan is staying on this team for at least this year. We lose money to get rid of him at this point in time.

Aso and Burgess should be able to get signed long term with the money earmarked for Moss.

I heard an interview with Russell stating that he wanted to be in camp this weekend and his agent was confident that it would happen. Also, I read an article previously that Russell's agent has yet to miss getting his clients into training camp on time (don't know about minicamps, tho).

#1. Get Russell signed. His agent, Metz, has never had a 1st round holdout. Niiiiiice.

2. Scrabble. The sooner, the cheaper. Give him the extension before camp, with a roster bonus for next spring, so we still have a bit of wiggle room.

3. Burgess. Hey look, he's signed for 3 more years, I think. No need to extend that. But a raise? OK, sure. But I'm not giving him top money. This is still a business, and Burgess is gonna play for this team this year, whether or not he gets a deal. He's not gonna hold out. Anything he gets is out of the goodness of Al Davis' heart. We're the ones that gave him that contract two years ago, when no one else thought he was a stud. We can bump him up a mill a year, and make everyone happy.

Actually, you're probably right. Asomugha's deal is up after this year I think. As for Burgess, I guess we could also remind him that we paid him sizeable money when no other teams were willing. Good points, Mass.
