12 teams. Looks like the top 4 ranked conference game winners get a bye. So Bama for example would have been 1 last year, despite Georgia being higher ranked, who would have been 5th.

Yup.

Keep an eye on the Sun Belt. They added some good programs (unlike AAC and C-USA who added based off markets) and could slide into the #6 spot.
