Count me in on the official "Rape the Browns and hold the Bucs Hostage" bandwagon. Trade down to #3 and draft Calvin Johnson unless the Bucs pay up, at which point we draft Petersen and stockpile up a ridiculous amount of picks by trading down twice from #1 to #4 overall.

Nevermind that I think Calvin Johnson is the best player in the draft, Calvin Johnson plus 3-4 more picks = winner.

Barring us trading down, I sure wouldn't mind seeing us take both J-Russ & Bowe... with hopefully a Moss to GB/JAX trade parlayed into Marshawn Lynch.

I'm absolutely not on the Calvin Johnson kick.

Ronald Curry is fine. Jerry Porter should be fine.

Why are we addressing complementary positions before we get a foundation in here? That makes no sense. Let's build from the inside and go out for a change.

Besides... I think he may be TOO big, honestly...

Unless we get the ball in Calvin Johnson's hands 20-25 times a game, I really don't see the logic in drafting him. I'd be content with Curry, Porter and Gabriel and a decent pass catching TE.

Content with that group? Sure. But I'm totally salivating over the thought of CJ, Porter & Curry as our starting three WRs. That would be absolutely devastating.. especially if we pick up Lynch or Bush on top of that.

Trade Moss, Porter and Curry start keep Gab on for some depth.

Hey let's not forget we have a WR that is worth mentioning that didn't play but in one game last year that should step up,
Will "muther fuckin" Buchanon
HE has that USC blood that Lane is familar with........

So if we trade Moss

Porter
Curry
Gabriel
Morant
Buchanon
Francis

Whitted (I hope they cut him)

I could live with this group.....so we wouldn't need to draft a WR at all think of using one of the picks you want o use on a WR on depth at "need" areas. We would get extra draft chance at a..........offensive linemen or maybe we draft a offensive linemen...............

I have no problem with that scenario......IFFF the Raides believe Andrew Walter is "the guy" to lead this team. Geez, everthing we do is predicated on Walter/Moss, eh?

Bottom line is.. it won't matter one bit who we draft this April or what FAs we sign if we don't fix the offensive line. That being said, I think with a decent-to-good offensive line, our QB position will show itself to be less of an issue than most believe it is. Bring in Carr to compete and draft a QB on day two (or sign a bargain backup), done and done. As long as we spend some of our crazy cap money on some quality FA linemen, I think we'll see a huge improvement this coming year.

I'd really like to drop back to #4 so that we could either take CJ, or Joe Thomas and p/u extra picks in the process. Both of those players make sense (also, I'm assuming that first we believe in Andrew Walter and Russell is gone by that point).

That is the most appealing outcome.

Imagine drafting CJ, packaging newly acquired picks to move up the mid-first round and get Marshawn Lynch in the process? Whoa Nellie.

Of course, if Russell blows the Raiders away and we aren't sold on Walter, I think the choice is obvious.

Much like 2003 with Gallery/Grove, it wouldn't shock me to see the Raiders draft Joe Thomas & Kalil/Staley with our first two picks.

It might not be sexy, but it does make sense philosophically, IFFF, the Raiders beleive in Walter AND we retain Randy Moss...

Seriously Does anyone here think Moss is ok with Walter being his QB????

I don't think he does, or that Walter proved to anyone last year we should take a QB at one or trade for a Schuab or Carr.......?

I'm not a believe in Walter either, but that doesn't mean the Raiders don't think otherwise. Besides, I can't judge QB's for shit. I thought Kerry Collins would work in Oakland.

One thing is certain, the offensive line MUST improve. Whether guys like Gallery, Grove, McQuistan & Boothe get better OR we draft/sign new players.

Rumor is that Detroit is taking Thomas at #2...who knows.

You ain't lying... Show him a videp clip of JaMarcus scrabbling and threading the needle on a pass across his body and Bones is on Ja... show him a picture of Quinn's glistening shaved chest and he's on BQ...

Otto on Walter

A little less than a month ago (1/25/07) Jim Otto was the guest of honor at a fundraiser up here in my neck of the woods (Fortuna, CA). He gave a great speech and afterwards he met with the locals and contributed $5,000 to The Fermin Garcia Memorial.

He was asked at one point if Al was impressed with JaMarcus Russell and Otto replied, that Al is impressed with Walter. He said that with no starting experience, in the identitical situation, Walter out preformed a veteran NFL starting QB. He went on to say that no first-year starter could have done any better.

Again - who knows how much Otto knows and if he does know, he may be playing spin games.- FWIW
