Starting/Playing Streaks & Notes: G Will Shields extended his franchise records by starting his 217th consecutive game and playing in his 218th consecutive game. TE Tony Gonzalez had a string of consecutive starts snapped at 120 games, tying C Tim Grunhard for the fourth-longest streak in Chiefs history. TE Kendall Gammon played in his 100th game with Kansas City, becoming the 63rd player in Chiefs history to see action in 100 games. T Kyle Turley started his 100th career NFL contest.
Chiefs-Raiders Notes: The Chiefs registered their 50th all-time win over the Raiders. The only team the Chiefs have defeated more frequently is Denver (51). The Chiefs own a seven-game winning streak against the Raiders, the club’s longest victory stretch against the Silver and Black since winning seven straight from ‘93-96. Kansas City owns a 14-3 (.824) regular season home record vs. Oakland since ‘90, including a streak of five straight wins at Arrowhead. Dating back to 2001, nine of the last 11 Chiefs-Raiders games have been decided by seven points or less.
Chiefs Scoring Defense: The Chiefs defense registered a second-half shutout for the second consecutive game and the third time this season. Kansas City’s defense has allowed 17 points or less in three consecutive games. Dating back to ‘85, the Chiefs are 15-1 (.938) at Arrowhead in regular season and playoff action when holding the Raiders to 21 points or less. Kansas City has won 21 consecutive games at Arrowhead when holding foes to 21 points or less, a mark that ranks as the fourth-longest active streak in the league.
Green’s Fourth-Quarter Performance: QB Trent Green led the Chiefs back from 13-10 fourth-quarter deficit to claim a 17-13 win. It marked the 16th time as a member of the Chiefs and the 19th time in his NFL career that he has led his club to victory after being tied or trailing in the fourth quarter.
Johnson’s Day: RB Larry Johnson registered 154 rushing yards, his sixth 100-yard rushing game of the season and the 19th 100-yard contest of his career. Johnson produced two rushing TDs, giving him 12 rushing TDs on the season and 42 in his career, moving him into third in Chiefs history. Johnson has scored a TD in eight consecutive games, a mark that ties as the second-longest streak in team history. He has scored a rushing TD in his last six contests.
More Johnson Stats: The Chiefs are now 15-4 (.789) when RB Larry Johnson posts a 100-yard rushing game, including an 11-0 mark at Arrowhead. Kansas City is 11-2 (.846) when Johnson scores two or more rushing TDs, including a 10-0 record at Arrowhead. Johnson now has 1,045 rushing yards on the season, joining RB Priest Holmes as the only other player in franchise history to produce back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Sunday’s game was Johnson’s third career 100-yard game against Oakland. In his his last four outings against Oakland, Johnson has produced 646 yards of total offense and nine TDs.
Team Rushing Stats: Dating back to 2002, Kansas City is 22-2 (.917) at Arrowhead when scoring two or more rushing TDs. The Chiefs have gone 20 straight games without relinquishing a 100-yard rusher at Arrowhead, the longest active streak in the league.
Division Dominance at Arrowhead: Kansas City is 10-1 (.909) against AFC West foes at Arrowhead since 2003, including a streak of seven consecutive wins.
Turnover Stats: S Jarrad Page registered his first career interception in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs have produced a +6 turnover differential (10 takes/4 gives) in their last six games.
Hall on the Career Punt Return Chart: WR Dante Hall now has 181 career punt returns, tying WR Tamarick Vanover for second in Chiefs history.
