Turley sits again
Left tackle Kyle Turley again missed practice because of a sore back, and coach Herm Edwards left unanswered the question of whether Turley would play Sunday. Jordan Black is the probable starter in Turley’s place.
“He could get better and be used as a limited backup guy if that’s the situation,” Edwards said of Turley. “We’ll wait another day or so, go up until game time and figure out exactly where he is.
Gardner ready
Rod Gardner will probably play Sunday in his first game for the Chiefs. Gardner, who signed as a backup wide receiver more than two weeks ago, said he was comfortable enough with the playbook to be able to help.
“It was a real good week,” Gardner said. “I’ve been working hard with (receivers coach Charlie Joiner) so I can understand some things and get out there and play.”
Williams signs
The Chiefs promoted defensive tackle Stephen Williams off their practice squad. The 6-foot-2, 306-pound Williams signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie out of Northwest Missouri State.
Rookie cornerback Marcus Maxey was released to make roster room.
