Paid Attendance: Tonight’s paid of attendance of 79,484 ranks as the fifth-highest mark in Arrowhead history and is the highest paid attendance at Arrowhead since 79,439 fans attended the Chiefs contest vs. Denver (9/22/96).
Starting/Playing Streaks & Notes: G Will Shields extended his franchise records by starting his 218th consecutive game and playing in his 219th consecutive game. TE Tony Gonzalez started his 137th career game, tying LBs Willie Lanier and Jim Lynch for ninth in Chiefs history.
Thanksgiving/Prime Time Records: Kansas City owns a 5-4 record on Thanksgiving Day. The Chiefs are 16-7 (.696) in prime-time games at Arrowhead dating back to ‘90.
Division Dominance at Arrowhead: Kansas City is 11-1 (.917) against AFC West foes at Arrowhead since 2003, including a streak of eight consecutive wins.
Chiefs-Broncos Series Notes: The Chiefs extended their home winning streak against Denver to four games, Kansas City’s longest home winning streak against the Broncos since winning four straight from ‘80-84. The home team has now won the last nine games in the Chiefs-Broncos series. Kansas City is now 13-4 (.765) vs. Denver at Arrowhead dating back to ‘90. The team scoring last has won 28 of the last 34 outings in this series.
Halftime Stats: Kansas City has won seven straight home games when leading at halftime and is 51-7 (.879) in regular season action at Arrowhead when leading at intermission dating back to ‘95.
Chiefs Scoring Defense: Kansas City’s defense has allowed 17 points or less in four consecutive games, marking the first time the club has accomplished that feat since enjoying a six-game streak of such games (11/23/97 – 9/6/98). Kansas City has won 22 consecutive games at Arrowhead when holding foes to 21 points or less, a mark that ranks as the third-longest active streak in the league. The Chiefs pitched a shutout in the first quarter for the sixth time this season.
Team Rushing Stats: The Chiefs defense allowed a season-low 38 rushing yards, the club’s fewest since permitting 37 yards vs. Cincinnati (1/1/06). It marked the fewest rushing yards the Chiefs have permitted in a contest against the Broncos since allowing 35 yards in a 15-7 win vs. Denver (9/20/93). The Chiefs defense has gone 21 straight games without relinquishing a 100-yard rusher at Arrowhead, the longest active streak in the league. Kansas City’s 225 team rushing yards were the club’s most since posting 226 at Houston (11/20/05).
Turnover Stats: CB Ty Law recorded his third INT of the season and the 49th INT of his career. DE Tamba Hali forced his fifth fumble of the season, the most forced fumbles ever accumulated by a Chiefs rookie in a season.
Johnson’s Day: RB Larry Johnson has produced a 100-yard rushing game for the fifth time in his last six starts. Johnson now has seven 100-yard rushing games on the season and 20 in his career. His seven 100-yard games this season are tied as the fourth-highest seasonal total in Chiefs history. The Chiefs are now 16-4 (.800) when Johnson posts a 100-yard rushing game, including an 12-0 mark at Arrowhead. Johnson scored on a one-yard TD run, giving him 13 rushing TDs on the season and 43 in his career. Johnson has scored a TD in nine consecutive games, the second-longest streak in team history. He has scored a rushing TD in his last seven contests, tying for the fourth-longest streak in franchise annals.
Hall Hits 10,00-Yard Mark: WR Dante Hall became the sixth player in NFL history to register 10,000 career combined kick return yards (kicks and punts). Hall now has 10,060 career combined kick return yards. Hall also moved into second in Chiefs history with 184 career punt returns, moving ahead of WR Tamarick Vanover (181).
Gonzalez Notes: TE Tony Gonzalez extended his franchise-record receiving streak to 94 games. Gonzalez now has 8,447 combined net yards in his career, tying RB Abner Haynes for second in team history.
Sack Stats: DE Tamba Hali registered his first multi-sack game with 2.0 sacks. He now has 5.5 sacks on the season.
