Chiefs Agree To Terms With Trio Of Draft Choices
Jul 20, 2006, 1:33:06 PM

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Thursday that the club has agreed to terms of three-year contracts with CB Marcus Maxey, G Tre Stallings and WR Jeff Webb. The trio are the initial 2006 Chiefs draft choices to agree to terms with the club. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreements were made available.

Maxey (6-0, 192) joined the Chiefs as the club’s fifth-round pick (154th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft. He saw action in 46 games (15 starts) for the Miami Hurricanes, recording 75 tackles (40 solo), two INTs for 32 yards, seven passes defensed, two QB pressures and two fumble recoveries.

Maxey played in 12 contests (11 starts) at right cornerback in 2005, recording 37 tackles (23 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss (-6.0 yards), two INTs for 32 yards, four passes defensed and one QB pressure.

The Navasota, Texas native was a three-time all-area and all-district selection at Navasota High School in Navasota, Texas. Maxey was named utility back on the Super Team of top Texas talent by Texas Football Magazine recognizing the state’s top 22 players at any position.

Stallings (6-3, 315) joined the Chiefs as the first of their two sixth-round picks (186th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft. The versatile offensive lineman played both right and left tackle at Mississippi, but is expected to move inside to guard at the NFL level. Stallings started 48 consecutive games for the Rebels, drawing 29 starting assignments at left tackle and 19 at right tackle. His 48 starts tie him with G/T Marcus Johnson for the most in Ole Miss history.

In 2005, Stallings was elected co-captain and opened all 11 games at right tackle, helping pave the way for RB Mico McSwain to establish a Mississippi freshman rushing record with 612 yards and three 100-yard rushing performances.

The McComb, Mississippi native was a three-year letterman at South Pike High School in Magnolia, Mississippi. He was named to the SuperPrep All-America and All-Dixie teams and earned Class 4A first-team all-state honors. Stallings played in the 2001 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic in Mobile, Alabama.

Webb (6-2, 211) joined the Chiefs as the second of their two sixth-round picks (190th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft. Webb played in 44 games (30 starts) at San Diego State, catching 234 passes for 2,890 yards (12.4 avg.) with 20 TDs. He also had two carries for 16 yards and one kickoff return for 17 yards. Webb’s 234 career catches rank second in Aztecs history behind WR J.R. Tolver (262) and his 2,890 receiving yards rank fourth in team annals.

Webb concluded the 2005 campaign appearing in 12 contests (11 starts), leading the Aztec in receiving with 92 receptions for 1,109 yards (12.1 avg.) with 10 TDs. His 92 receptions were the third-highest seasonal total in school history.

The Pontiac, Michigan native was named first-team All-Desert Valley League, All-CIF South Section and All-Western Region as a senior at La Quinta High School in La Quinta, California.
