Chiefs agree to terms with first-round pick Hali and QB Croyle
By ELIZABETH MERRILL
The Kansas City Star
The Chiefs left for training camp Thursday with their first-round draft pick safely on the plane.
Defensive end Tamba Hali, 20th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, agreed to terms of a five-year contract Thursday shortly before the team left for River Falls, Wis. Hali’s agent, Brian Mackler, was boarding a plane Thursday afternoon to hammer out the final details in River Falls. Hali has yet to sign the deal.
Also Thursday, the Chiefs agreed to terms with quarterback Brodie Croyle, who was selected in the third round. Barring any last-minute contract snags, the club should have all of its rookies in camp Friday.
Hali is expected to make an immediate impact for the Chiefs and was an All-American at Penn State. He was practicing with the No. 1 defense this spring while veteran end Eric Hicks was out because of a shoulder injury.
