Carlisle a Raider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent signing. Very encouraging that he wanted to come here.

The Broncos host Oakland on Sept. 16 in the second week of the season. Carlisle was a starting guard for the Broncos the past two years and likely will start for the Raiders, who mimic Denver's zone-blocking scheme
let the chippy copycat accusations begin.

Hows that line looking now eh?

LT - ?
LG - Boothe
C- Newberry
RG - Carlisle
RT - Gallery

Although I dig my boy Boothe, if Blalock is there in rd 2, it might be to hard to pass on a talent like him, or Joe Staley the LT

Blalock has very quick feet, he's got great hips and I see him as that pulling guard type that can get upfield to the next level, Blalock reminds me a lot of Marcus McNeil type player, late 1st rd'er type player... Gonna be a good'n

I will have no problem with our shiny new toy standing behind a line of

LT- Simms/Slaughter
LG - Blalock
C- Newberry
RG - Carlisle
RT - Gallery

Our right side should be pretty strong

Maybe we luck out and Ugoh slips to rd 3, or Doug Free kicking off the draft on day two would be a player

I think Sims has the LT position locked down, although I really liked the way Slaughter played last year, he did great in passing downs I thought anyways.

Picks gonna be Russell, I think the Raiders are just try to jimmy their way into obtaining Russell a couple picks down and acquire an extra pick or two....

Well there I go again assuming nobody wants to come to the Raiders.

Money talks and bullshit walks!

Not sure if we'll use a second rounder on any OL unless we stockpile some picks via trade down or trades, i.e. Moss. Would love to see Ryan Khalil in the S&B. Would hate to see KC or Denver take him.

I think the athletic Free is definitely a possibilty in the 3rd round. Not sure he makes it to the 4th. Need to grrom Sims's replacement. I think Staley will go higher than projected.

Wow, fantastic news.

Yay, us.

All the reports I've read indicate Staley has closed the gap on Levi Jones for the #2 OT position and, on some boards, leap-frogged Jones altogether. I think he's pegged to be a top-20 pick at this point. Probably doens't make it out of the 1st round.

I too like Blalock, but I don't think he's the type of OG that Cable would prefer. A little too much of a mauler and not athletic enough, at least that's the perception. But you stick him on a team like Baltimore or KC and the dude's going to be a beast.

A better fit for Cable's ZBS (zone blocking scheme)? Ben Grubbs. He's more athletic than Blalock, although not quite the polished product. Grubbs would be there in the 2nd too, most likely.

Signing Carlisle certainly doesn't "solve" any of the offensive line woes, but I wonder if it's a sign that it's not a position that will be addressed until the 3rd round and beyond.

Going under the assumption that the ZBS system needs athletic linemen, we actaully have the guys in place for it. Grove, Coop, Sims, Gallery are all better than average athletically.

Course, as excited as we all are for this new system, it's pass blocking that is the real concern.

I concur, we have made a couple of moves with Newberry being a low risk gamble and Carlisle a very solid move so I don't expect us to place a high priority on it in the draft. I think we will see if coaching and scheme change can help out Gallery and Grove. I would still be happy if we picked up Khalil or a tackle in the second or third.

I think you mean Levi Brown. Yea I've got staley in the first... hence the reason I think we move Moss and a pick to GB for thier 16th... either Brown or Staley will be there and either one would improve our OL. Free or Ugoh in the 3rd is a great plan. heck we could go Johnson/Russell then Staley, Kalil, Free, Sears with our next 4 picks(assuming we move randy and a 2nd day to get GBs 1st) and I wouldn't be disappointed. Offensive line by shotgun draft picks... works for me.

Just something to consider, unless I'm remembering wrong, he was primarily an OT at Florida and the Donx were working him in as an OT before he moved into the starting lineup as a guard... There was also talk of moving him to RT to replace Foster before Pears stepped up... He may end up as our starting RT before all is said and done...

CARLISLE AT A GLANCE:

A seventh-year guard who started all 16 regular-season games for the first time in his career in 2005 after starting a combined total of six regular-season games in his first five seasons.

Helped the Broncos produce their 10th individual 1,000-yard rushing season in the last 11 years by blocking for Mike Anderson (1,014 yds.) in 2005 while the team gained the secondmost rushing yards (2,539) in franchise history and ranked second in the NFL in that category.

Became the first Broncos offensive lineman to catch a touchdown pass since tackle Dave Studdard (at Phi. 9/9/86) with a 6-yard scoring reception from Jake Plummer at S.D. (9/14/03) for his first career touchdown.

Played a role in the Broncos rushing for a franchise-record 2,629 yards as a reserve in 2003 while helping Denver tie for the fourth-fewest sacks allowed (25) in team history.

Started at four different positions (left guard, right guard, left tackle and right tackle) at the University of Florida.

Selected by the Broncos in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS: Signed by Denver as a draft choice 7/18/00.

2005 Postseason: Started at guard in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game vs. New England (1/14/06) to help hand the Patriots their first postseason loss in 11 games. Started at guard in the AFC Championship Game vs. Pittsburgh (1/22/06).

Aaron Sears is born to be a Raider.

Hes played every position on the line other than C and is athletic and big.

Honestly though, I'll be suprised if we draft a day one OL.

We've gone new guys everywhere, a bunch of young blood and new coaches etc.

CC gives us a lot of options as far as the Sims V Gallery competition goes. Whoever needs the help most can have a vet ligning up next to him who knows the system. If I have my way, we'll see Sims at LT with Carlisle at LG, with Gallery and Boothe (maybe Grove depending on Newberry's knees/body) on the right side.

Yeah and most likely one of our O-line/TE's/RB's helping out on the left.

Potential LTs - Gallery, Sims, McQ, Slaughter
RTs - Gallery, Sims, McQ, Slaughter, Boothe, Carlisle, Badger
Gs - Grove, Boothe, McQ, Carlisle, Hulsey, Badger
Cs - Grove, Newberry, Treu, Hulsey

any one of the guys listed could start at that position (though Badger, Hulsey, and treu are true longshots... even to make the team at this point)

We've got some at least average players at each position... now we need guys like Gallery, Grove, McQ to take that next step and maybe add a real blue chip guy to cornerstone off of.

Gallery has already pretty much been penciled in at RT

Carlisle will line up next to Gallery

I look for Gallery to have a great year now that he's got a vetern guard next to him and a 2 time pro-bowler center 1 slot over

That right side could be powerful

Love to get a fast LG--- I still like Blalock... Pull that MF'er from LG on a sweep toss to Fargas going right...

I disagree... Gallery and Sims have each split time at LT so far in the voluntary minicamp. I don't think anything has been truly decided yet.

Should I drop my trouser so you can view my identical Al Davis wart on my asscheek?

"Ya hear dat Ma?, "Nobody questions the Nips sources"
