Brooks to Start against KC

Yeah but i have a feeling since they love to crush us no matter what we. Passing on Quinn (highly rated talent ina pro-offense) and Cutler, Leinart etc. Then they will show Walter and Brooks Qb rating and wonder why we think he is going to be special. Then they will check lamonts last year and Jets stats and say he is less of a gamble to start and blame his injury. We the fans want a home-run back. The analyst's are gonna want us to rebuild with a franchise with a Qb. So it can "bring hope to our hopeless sinking franchise" etc.

yeah im used to it. Just saying I hope he goes to detroit and we get another Skilled blue chip. CJ, AP, MLynch. I wouldnt be that mad if we took J.Thomas either. JUST NOT FUCKING TEDD GINN!

So what is Walters Valid Excuse? Because the way I see it he has had every opportunity to show something...... and he hasn't stepped up.
Plain and Simple......Just Like Brayton, (and I was a Walter & Brayton supporter) they each have had the chances to show up this year and haven't.
We need a upgrade at both Spots......

For that matter there are a few Raiders that could have stepped up as well this year. Moss, Walker, Anderson, Whited, R. Williams, & Slaughter, unlike some of you I am not willing to write off Grove and Gallery and all the Rookies on the Line yet.
I will give them one more year....

Now for the guys that did step it up, Fargas, Madsen, Boothe, Curry, Stu, ASO, Fabian, Sapp, Morrison, Sands and Burgess.
These guys deserve to be here.....and Hopefully are the foundation to what we want to do Next year.

Agreed. For all this hand wringing about Walter not starting, people would do well to remember that this dude hasn't even had an impressive training camp? Brooks was certainly the odds on favorite to win the job heading into 2006, but had Walter performed better in camp, the job might have been more open to debate IMO. Walter has certainly been hampered by a poor offensive line around him, but it's clear that he has been slow to make decisions and suprisingly inaccurate.

I'd like to see the Raiders sign (or trade) for another QB to compete with Walter & Brooks heading into 2007. Unless of course they draft a QB.....

I do want to see us draft: Lynch or Petersen however.

We need to become respectable (8-8) and competitive within our own division (3-3) as a first step towards actual winning. The quickests avenue to that would be having a monster RB along with drafting & FA dollars spent along this offensive line. As much as I don't like the 2-Headed Hydra known as Andrew Walter & Aaron Brooks, I'm a firm believer in the theory that basically any NFL QB can be serviceable behind a great RB, solid offensive line and good defense.

The Raiders already possess a solid defense (dominant with a better rush end & plugger at DT), drafting a great RB should be can't miss, so it comes down to- as usual - what we do with the offensive line.

I still don't understand how alarm bells can't be ringing with Robert Gallery, but there is no job along that line that should be guarenteed heading into 2007. In fact, move Gallery back to the Right side, go with Slaughter and a draft pick at LT and spend some FA money at OG & Center.

I would be fine with drafting anyone other than Joe Thomas. It's not that I don't think he'll be a good player, I just don't think our coaching staff is good enough to make him worth a top pick. The quickest way for us to win is to draft a runningback (preferably AP or Lynch, but there should be some good ones in the late 1st day rounds) or say, "Hey, we're not going to be competitive for a few years so let's waste 3 years and let Brady Quinn develop and lead our offense."

Those are my three options for our first pick. Peterson, Lynch, and Quinn.

Well, as much as I want the stud RB, what happens when a team can key on our running game and can force us to go to the pass with crap pass protection? We get fucked, that's what. It all begins in the trenches. While a stud RB will make a crap line look decent in the running game, he won't do crap to improve pass protection.

Now if anyone other than Curry can prove capable of catching and holding onto the ball, Al will lean away from drafting the stud WR. Will he draft the guy who puts points on the board? I hope so. I just have my doubts.

As for drafting another LT early. Our brain trust have already done a decent job of preparing two rooks who haven't already been screwed up by multiple line coaches. Are they ready for the next prospect? That's the impression I'm getting, especially the way Fargas and Lee are running.

Don't kill the messenger (as usual). I'm just saying.

I'd like to see Justin Fargas have another good game rushing for 100 yards

I was all over take AP or Lynch, but ya know?.. Jordan did rush for 1000 yards last year

If we can bang out 100 yards rushing a game I'm thinking why not trade down a couple of slots and take Alan Branch?

Kevin Huntley is looking like he's starting to come on

2.5 sacks in 4 games? Them thar some goodin numbers

I'd hate to lose Sapp and have this defense lose a little bit especially when its our strongets side of the ball

Big Alan Branch would be okay with me

If we can somehow sign a guard in FA

Trading down, Alan Branch -DT, Kyle Young -C and if he declares, Robert Meachem - WR -Vols

Either way Oaklnad goes... This team is going to be improved after the draft

If our OL morphs into KC's OL of a few years back, then I'd have no problem throwing out LJ and Fargas as our starting unit but as it stands now, we really need a game breaker, someone who can jump start this offense, ya know. Plus their durabilty issues concern me.

I'd rather NOT trade down with our first pick. I want the best skill player available.

I would like to see us package some of our later picks to get another 1st rounder however. That would allow us to go after OL, DL, etc. etc.
