bit torrent questions

I know you think that HB knows all,but if it can't be passed, shot, kicked, cooked, swam in or diddled, I'm semi useless...

I'm trying to get into the torrent thing... With the assist of google, I've come up with:

I'm using http://www.utorent.com as my download site...

http://www.mininova.org and http://tvrss.net/shows/ are where I'm getting the movie/tv/music torents from....

I have Roadrunner connection...

My questions:

1) My site choices okay or any better suggestions otherwise?
2) How long does it usually take to download a movie?
3) Where's the damn porn stuff? Not that I'd ever use it, er, or anything...
 
Just make sure you've got a kick ass virus scanner and firewall setup if you're going to dabble in that stuff. I can't give you much advice on the rest of your questions other than to suggest extreme caution.

I'm running Avast antivirus, Spybot anti spyware and Zone Alarm firewall...

I use Utorrent, and it works great.

isohunt is also a good site for certain torrents.

Have a good firewall/virus scanner as said before, I got screwed on this part, and a computer geek buddy had to clean up my CPU (Porn be damned)
 
demonoid is the best though. but getting isn't a simple sign up and hello. only two ways in:

1.) somebody you know has an invitation and gives it to you.

2.)catch them when they periodically open up space for new members for the ones they kicked out.
 
Yep, demonoid is the bomb if ya can get in. I've been using revolutiontt.net of late and they have a lot of kickass material as well. Torrentspy.com has plenty of porn also. Just keep those virus definitions up to date.
 
Totally cool... caught a bunch of movies so far...

It may also sound kind of geeky, but I was a big fan of the comic series Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos when I was growing up, and I've gotten to download the entire series and read each page by page with a CDDisplay download...
 
i caught up on alan moore's graphic novel work myself. i may catch up on frank miller next. Also The Watchmen is one of the greatest miniseries graphic novels ever.

HB glad those sites helped.

If you use IsoHunt.com try sticking with posts by axxo all his are normally top notch. You have to watch because some idiots are trying to post stuff under his name and those are the one you have to watch out for.
 
For bittorrent to work optimally, you need to have Port forwarding enabled.

I have no idea what the fuck that means, but portforward.com has step by step instructions for damn near every isp, modem in existance

Which is why we go to MiniNova or TorrentBox for the real aXXo releases. ;)
