Although every rugby guy I know thinks wearing pads is for pusses, maybe we should look into giving some of these guys tryouts:

For my money, still the best pregame ritual by any sports team:

We actually tried to sign Nips boy Leonard Peters from what I understand, but the Jets promised him they wouldn't draft a safety and that they would give him draft pick money if he agreed to sign with them... Too bad, it would have been cool to see him teach our guys to do it... Though the New Zealanders are understandably sensitive about others doing it, I would have loved to see our defense walk to midfield on opening day and do it right before kickoff to get the crowd jacked up... We're all in black as well you know :D :

There is a saying that soccer is a game played by gentlemen and watched by hooligans and that rugby is a game played by hooligans and watched by gentlemen.

All I know is that rugby players are the hardest drinking, most hot-tempered people I've ever met in my life.

Then this sport has a chance in New Jersey.

I gotta be honest, I have never seen that before. That is very, very cool.

Do all teams down there do the Haka, and do they do their own? It seemed like the All Blacks were squaring off with that other team that was doing their own.

With all due respect, I think the most hard core sport of all time has to be Irish Hurling. It's frigging brutal! I've only ever caught 3-4 games on satelite before but it's just unbelievable. It's like rugby, hai-alai (sp) and hockey combined.. without pads. These guys have huge curled sticks that they beat each other with as they go 'for the ball' .. unbelievable.

I played rugby in the navy. Typically you have ex soccer players and ex football players, so there was a pretty broad range on how to play the game amongst ourselves. It was all fun and until we played the british army's club when we went to Hong Kong. Afterwards they took us to a bunch of bars in Kowloon and I must say, they're fucking crazy, but it was a good time. Dirt, blood, singing, and pints and pints of stout. Good Times.
