or do you feel if we give him a good oline in 2007 draft and free agency he can be a better qb or are you on the koolaid bandwagon ab like some raider fans i know on another forum? not bashing them though

Man, I don't know.

Brooks is so damned inconsistent. This might have just been one of the good weeks for him ... but he sure made the offense look more like an NFL caliber unit.

It's so weird, because they only scored 13 points, but it really seemed like the offense made real strides and didn't do anything disastrous. How the hell did they only score 13?

Is Jamarcus Russell coming out? I saw a mock not too long ago that had us taking Calvin Johnson in the 1st and Russell in the 2nd and I think I fainted...

I don't really want Russell.

I'd love to get CJ in the first, of course.

Is there any way Troy Smith can play QB in the NFL? He's listed at 6-1, which is the same as Michael Vick. But he's WAAAAAAY more advanced as a passer than Vick ever was at Va Tech.

I don't think anybody is giving up on AW. Aaron Brooks to me has little future with the Raiders but for right now he seems to have the experience to play in this horrible offense. As Jack says, however, next week may be completely different. That's the guys history. I really just don't want to see AW broken before he has a decent chance. Hopefully he'll get the chance to play under a different OC next year. I admit I felt differently a couple of weeks ago. I thought letting Andrew take his lumps and learn would be good. Well he's taken enough lumps I think.

Just to clarify, I don't think Brooks is the answer by any stretch but at this point it might be good for Walter's health.

I've read the 6'1" listing is slightly generous.

according to raiderforum, they are calling him kc junior

This teams only hope at all to winning as long as this OL is together and Walsh is the OC is running QB's like Brooks, McNair, Vick etc

Slow white MF'ers like Favre, Manning, and Walter will die a horrible death

Probably fans (likely the same fans) who were clamoring for AW and calling him the savior. If only it was that easy. He's a young inexperienced QB and to ask him to be the savior for this group of underachievers is unfair. Don't worry, Walter will get another chance to prove himself. Maybe he'll end up the guy maybe he won't but one thing sure, he's going to need some help from his teammates.

I don't think it's time to give up on Walter by any means. But at the same time, he certainly has done nothing to prove that he CAN get the job done. As poorly as he played this season, I certainly don't want to see the team bank their future on him.

I would hate to think that Raider fans were ignorant enough to give up on AW after such a short audition, and with as little help as he was given.

If we are going to continue to put out the current offensive line, we ought to think about trading for Michael Vick, or signing Antwan Randle-El as a QB.

Brooks mobility was a plus today, and like Bones, I don't want to shatter Walter's confidence... so, maybe Brooks should take the beating for now.

Couplea things though:

We ran the ball better than we have all season.

Seemed to me we didn't have the usual half dozen drops, guys were actually going up in traffic for the ball and holding on.

Maybe that chef defense just sucks that bad and deserves some of the credit here. I noticed some chef fans were moaning about their D before this game, like they want some coaches fired and such.

Brooks definatly gets credit for helping sustain some drives and keeping our D off the field... first time they've had a break all season.

On a whole? Nah.

But right now? Yeah. For the same reasons I stated here: http://www.afcwestforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1827

Let me put it this way. If you spun Brooks and Walter the same number of times in the offense of say, the Colts, the Giants, the Saints, the Chargers or a team like that which is basically set around the QB, I think Walter is better without much of a doubt.

But in a fucked up ruins like we have? Brooks.

Pretty much how I see things.

I'm not ready to give up on Walter yet, but if anyone thinks he is still ready to step in and be the 'saviour' so to speak, you are kidding yourselves...

He needs some major work, but I'm hoping he can step up and show us he can be the guy in the near future.

Im not giving up on Walter yet either...but I would love to draft a guy like Troy Smith and see what hes got...And I dont wanna hear the "hes to short" crap...lets find out damn it!

On a side note...I would MUCH rather have Adrian Peterson with the first pick in the draft then ANYONE else

Seriously.. 'rookie' QBs don't step into the starting lineup and do much their first year.. ever. Next year, with this experience, and a couple of new offensive linemen.. Walter might be ready to show us something.

I am not ready to give the team to Walter but I am also not wanting to give up on him yet. I think we either Draft someone or go the FA route and get someone that can compete for this job next year and if Brooks is here he can compete too.....
I don't think Walter has really impressed me the way I wanted him to, but I think that he has shown he can do it but needs more time.....

I think we should bench him until we get a new OC in here. He's doomed to fail in Walsh's system.

Walter has regressed as the season has progressed. Sure he has stopped forcing the bad pass, but he is now missing the open reciever and just holding the ball too long. The scheme is not helping him, and the recievers giving up also puts a hurt on his numbers, but there is no reason, IMO to keep running him out there. Whatever experiance he gains this year will mean nothing next year as the scheme will be different as will hopefuly the players.
