When Fargas was running?

I really love Lamont Jordans attitude.. He's a good runner..

But he's simply not the type of runner thats gonna give this team opportunities to win

Fargas hits the hole faster.. you cant argue that.. You can see it.. and by doing so.. You saw the yards he gains simply by hitting the holes quicker than Jordan

I hope we are able to keep Moss for another year and go draft Adrian Peterson or Marshawn Lynch and not have to think about Calvin Johnson

Go out and sign a high priced FA OL and draft a couple in April

I just dont think teams are really respecting Oaklands run game.. and rightfully so..

We dont have that breakaway RB that can take it the distance anytime

Peterson and Lynch would improve this Offense big time.

Either one of those guys have aspects of their running game that could really open up a whole new offensive scheme

Can we really blame Walsh?

Or is Lamonts style of running tying our hands on how we run our offense?

Anyone also notice the fact that most of Jordan's better runs come after someone else has had some sucess?

Maybe he is just better suited as a change of pace back like he was in NY.

Use LaMont in the Bettis mold. Bring him in to batter a defense. He seemed to do that well yesterday. Both Crockett and Fargas run harder at the hole.

I gotta fix that fucking rep system...reset it to "0" for everybody cuz the Nippled One deserves major rep for that post. Fargas is flat out playing jordan. Yea! Dude knows how to hit the smallest crease -- Jordan doesn't. I l;ike Fargas. I bet even Crow is coming around.

Despite his size, Jordan hasn't shown the power to be that type of RB. His problems are talent related IMO.

If we are going to emulate the Pittsburgh running game then I'd rather start Fargas as the "Willie Parker" guy and bring in Crockett for the dirty work.

Jordan seems to get more counter plays when his number is called, but yeah, as it stands I would prefer our running plays to be more of the quick downhill dive plays that just require the OL to fire out and lock on for an instant...

I'd like to see more of Crockett running out of the I behind Lee... Even if he is stopped, he runs angry and you get the sense the D is taking some punishment...

Downside to this is that Jordan is a far superior pass option than is Crockett or Fargas... Crockett looks lost when running anything other than a straight line and Fargas looks like he's wearing oven mitts catching the ball...

I'd be more concerned about that if we actually threw to the RB's.

I think it's one of the reasons we don't. And the sad part is Jordan has been stone-handed this season too on the few passes that made it to his hands. Yuck!

Talk to me about a RB competition when we have a Offensive Line that is worth a damn.

I also dont' see maybe what everyone else is seeing? I just can't see how can you throw more to the backs with this offense?
You have to have time to get the RB in the flat to catch a pass. We are so poor that as soon as a RB gets in the flat, Walter is flat on his back!

I root for Fargas but lets see if first he stays healthy and then let's see if he re-signs here!
Jordon is a starter plain and simple, Fargas has played well but I wouldn't place my offensive production on his back yet!

I love the way Fargas is running this season but I hold my breath on every play. It's unfortunate that his hands and durability will probably prevent him from being a feature back in this league but for a change of pace guy he's done pretty good behind this abortion of an OL.

I really think this is the year we should pull the trigger on a franchise RB. I don't think Jordan is the long term solution.

I like the idea of running Crockett in the power-I as well. I'm ready to essentially bench Jordan alltogether.

Fargas is demonstrating that he can in fact tote the rock 15+ times per game and I'd mix another 10-15 carries between Crockett & Lee. Carries can be adjusted if someone gets "hot".

Funny, no one was more stoked about the Jordan signing than myself. I also liked the Kerry Collins & Randy Moss acquisitions. Obviously I stink at scouting offensive talent.

Defense on the other hand? I've been pimping our secondary since last year - even though we only had 5 INTS.

BTW - That INT by Kirk Morrison was an amazingly athletic & alert play. Amazing. Danny Clark who?

Don't forget that Mug's interception was off of Howard's hands. Also a great play to get in the way of the passing lane. They definitely picked two very good LB's in successive years. Now, all they need to do is keep them in Oakland.

I raised this question last night, but heading into the next draft, do you focus on the offense or finish the job on defense?

Personally, I'm inclined to use our top pick on the best DE or DT (so long as the talent warrants the selection when we pick of course) and I'd rather spend our FA dollars on offense.

I don't want to expend a 1st rounder on the O-line. I'd rather spend FA money along our line. Granted, we'll overpay a bit, but hey, it's not my money anyway.

I just think the 'D' is that close to being mentioned in the same breath as Baltimore for years to come. Just a player or two (at most) away.

I believe that his speed and pass coverage potential was why we drafted him in the first place. Huff & Howard are looking like the right choice thus far IMHO. Aside from one bad angle in the hole (swing pass that went for a 1st down), Huff was VERY solid yesterday IMHO.

Anyone else notice?

You know, I think Sands, Hawthorne, and Kelly can get the job done in the middle. Would I like a big guy who can drop anchor? Yeah. But I don't think we need to spend a high-round selection on one. Ass-kicking DE? Sign me up baby!

Other than some depth guys, and the two upgrade wants on the DL, we're set on D. I say put everything into the offense.

Regarding the OL, man it just isn't going to get fixed quickly through the draft. FA dollars there man or we're looking at an uphill battle next year too. Screw that!

Moss needs to go. I hate his attitude. I could go with what we've got at RB, but since we're not doing anything else, an upgrade would be very welcomed.

Which is why I wanted to break the bank, overpay if you will, for Steve Hutchinson last year. Imagine that dude along our line this year? Water under the bridge, but I agree, FA dollars thrown at our line. I'd consider trading 2nd or 3rd round draft picks for a solid starting lineman or two BTW.

DT? I'll co-sign your opinion. Moving Kelly, again, might be a wrong move. Even though I prefer him at DE, might as well keep him at DT, along with Sands & Taj next year. We could develop another big body, ala Turdell Sands as the 4th guy.

So, are there any top-5 caliber DE's in this year's draft? I'm assuming we're still a top 5 drafting team, but hey, the way our D is playing, we might fuck around and win 5-6 games !!!

My real worry is that we take that WR out of college. I don't want another WR quite frankly and I'm also sick of Moss. If Curry remains healthy this year, he should be much better in 2007 and I MIGHT consider a mend the fences campaign with Jerry Porter.

I really want to see us develop Morant (old topic) and Madsen. Anderson & Williams stink to High Heaven.

So, if we DON'T go best DE available, perhaps we go RB? Hard to say, but I want the DE to round out this defense.

We better show some love to the Terd this offseason. I'm a bit disappointed that we let Riddle go. I thought he could have developed into a 3rd down pass specialist. Hopefully Huntley can be the guy. I still feel that we need to bolster the interior line as I feel that is the weakest part of an otherwise strong defense. Wouldn't hurt to pick up a veteran LB or two for depth purposes as we're pretty thin. BTW, I'm stoked about the speed of our backers and db's. It's nearly impossible to run wide on us.

I'm with blowing our cap load towards FA OL signings. Screw that overpaying a skill player until we get the OL situated and I agree I wouldn't look to the draft except for maybe one mid or later round pick.

I wouldn't be mad at a DE but a legit RB will benefit both our offense and our defense. Wouldn't you like to see what Ryan's boys could do if they weren't on the field 75% of the game?

That said... look for us to go OL or WR.

i like the idea of drafting Marshawn Lynch and all

but if we were to come away with Alan Branch, i wouldnt complain

Burgess, Branch, Sands could be potentially 3 studs on our line

In the tradition of the Raiders I just hope we're not going to let Sands walk like we did Coleman, Glover, Barton, Gravy and a few others. That would truly be a step backwards.
